Gunsmithing Removing HydroDip/DuraTouch

I have a composite stock that has a factory hydrodip camo and Duratouch clear coat. What is the best way to remove it in preparation for painting/Duracoating?

on a hydro dip just scuff it anc spray over it would be the easiest way.

You can certainly sand or scuff off the hydro dip. The best way I've found to redo a botched dip is to use simple denatured alcohol (if the stock is synthetic). You can also use regular lacquer thinner to remove the clear coat and continue on through to the ink of the hydro dip. You'll hit base coat and then you can repaint, etc., from that point.
