Hundreds of Russian mercenaries were reportedly killed by U.S. forces in a failed attack on a U.S.-held military base and refinery last week. Citing U.S. and Russian sources, Bloomberg News reported more than 200 contract killers—mostly Russian citizens fighting for Syrian President Bashar al-Assad—died in what is believed to be the deadliest incident between Russian and U.S. citizens since the Cold War. Russia’s military has disowned any responsibility for the attack in the Deir al-Zour region and a U.S. military spokesperson appeared to accept that claim in a statement. No U.S. coalition casualties have been reported from the attack, but the death toll from the mercenary side is still rising, with soldiers being treated in hospitals in Moscow and St. Petersburg. Defense Secretary James Mattis is reported to have called the incident “perplexing.” The reported death toll would be far greater than all of the Russian casualties the Kremlin has acknowledged during its Syrian incursion.​

SecDef Mattis called the incident "perplexing" publically but he is no fool, I have little doubt that with him as SecDef the appropriate measures have been put in place.

Before our great glorious leaders slow walk us from a covert CIA war, to an open cold war, to an open hot war, I would like them to explain exactly:

What we are doing in Syria and why
What we have done in Syria from the start
Why we willingly allowed ISIS to take hold hoping it would weaken the Syrian government
Why we are involved in Syria in the first place
Why did we ask for the Kurds help & arm them and then once we didn't need them, let the Turks start invading both Syria and Iraq to kill them?
(Much like a repeat of how we used and abandoned the kurds over and over the past 50 years).
What is the actual plan that we have to make a stable country with actual real religious and human freedom?
What have we done to ensure the "freedom fighters" we are gearing up for a bigger war over are actually decent people that want full religious liberty, full human rights (including rights for women), Full democracy and actually will be our allies?

Or are we just funding one group of bloodthirsty Islamic terrorists who are supported by our gulf "friends" so they can overthrow somebody we don't like all that much because they are a bit too strong and reduce the country to another mess like we have made out of the rest of the countries we "liberated" recently?

This BS about constantly going face to face with the Russians over who's "freedom fighters" we are "helping" is going to blow up in everyone's face and the lie of being there to fight ISIS won't work anymore. The Russians are not about to just throw in the towel and let terrorists under the guise of being "freedom fighters' win.

While I agree with ridding the world of Communists & socialists anywhere they may be, calling the Russians Communists is a bit of a stretch unless you were willing to also say that one of our 2 main political parties is also full of Communists, Marxists & Socialists.

I know that security contractors from Bulgaria and the Balkans worked pretty damn cheap. The only guys we paid less than them were some of the Africans (not the South Africans who were paid well) and the Filipinos.

Peters was once a very very very good intelligence officer who was right twice,as often as he was wrong. Back in the day, smart people listened to him. Back when America broke Russia. Back in the day his word was gospel to a lot of people in 10th group.
His older writings predicted exactly where we are today. Just sayin... he was very real and very right back in the day....
Some of what he said in that "flaming liberal" article is blunt ass truth that it would pay well for people to pay attention to, just sayin once again.
Peters once was part of the Fulda Gap speed bump our troops provided to slow the expected Russian invasion of Europe. If you don't know the history and what our soldiers faced, some of you can't translate Peters now. He's more correct than some of you give him credit for.
Time will prove his comments one way or the other, some of you will see it come to pass.
