Brought home from the gunshow yesterday.

Made in 1967, the last year before the 1968 gun control act required serial numbers.

Re: show some pics of your rimfire sticks!!

This is a CMP 40X with a standard barrel that I got from Don in SC. Thanks again Don. I cleaned the stock & hand rubbed Tung oil for about a dozen coats. Robert Gradous of Gradous Rifles installed a Jewell trigger & properly glass bed the rifle. We checked the crown but it was just fine. The sights front & rear are Centra's. I am quite happy with this & will start shooting it again when the weather warms up. The front sight is down & the rears are up way up so I can get a 400 yard zero.

I machined it up myself, I'll start a new thread with some photos rather than hijack this one.

Wow, that is one sweet ride... Did your stock have many dings? If so, how did you remove them? Gladly except a PM so as not to clutter the picture thread. Thanks for sharing, that is one beautiful rifle.

Re: show some pics of your rimfire sticks!!

How's the Hawke scope working for you? I had to return a Hawke scope that was on a RWS 48 pellet rifle and they are good folks to deal with. They're sending me a newer model that cost more at no extra cost. I'm thinking about putting the new Varmint model on my Savage Mark 2 TR. Those guy's at Hawke are really prompt on fixing a problem with there scopes and the one I had was really nice for the price.

Re: show some pics of your rimfire sticks!!

I think, that Hawke scope is Great, like the CZ 455 rifle, but only the stock is too short for me, because I am nearly 2m tall. So in future I will take it longer

I am shooting on 50m so I am trying to find best magnification for my eyes. The 20x and 25x is looking for me great.

I must stop looking at this kind of porn. I am happy with my 22’s. Must fight the need to put a cool scope on my 22. Fight it. Ok I am good again. Those are some sharp looking rifles.

Re: show some pics of your rimfire sticks!!

Thanks 95LTZ and Ala-Shooter for the kind words.

Every one those are some nice rifles.

For anyone thinking about a 40X/XB there will be a small number sold this year by the CMP. Rumor has it at 400 to 800 rifles total. Depends on how many are servicable after inspection. These are turn ins from the Marines so expect well used, LOL.
Info is first hand from a friend that works for the CMP. No date for sales yet. Get on the CMP email notice system if you want one. Thay will sell out in one or two days. google ODCMP or just CMP for their web sight.

I have been considering many different rimfires to make a mock target rifle to my 308 and think I have decided to go with the 77/22. A guy I work with has one and I have seen what he can do with it, the gun is just flat out crazy accurate. I like the size of the reciever and bolt as well, very beefy! I think it will work well as a clone centerfire. I am considering doing my own stock mods, but first things first! I need to get the gun.

How does yours shoot? if it's anything like my buddies it's a tack driver!

Re: show some pics of your rimfire sticks!!

Surprisingly, it shot the best with the ammo I totally didnt expect. I tried some Wolf, SK, RWS, and Aguila. The aguila golden eagle target performed the best. Wolf, SK and RWS target rifle, sucked balls.

I went online after my range session today and ordered 5 bricks. I wish I could find it by the case, because I would order it in that quantity. *Almost forgot* It leaves the barrel... SUBSONIC!!!! So it was whisper quiet shooting at the range today.

Of course, like an Idiot, I shot five and thought *maybe I should continue* Then i shot the sixth, pulled south, yelled some profanities, and stopped. Oh well, shit happens

Re: show some pics of your rimfire sticks!!

Nice shootin! What range (distance) is that group posted from?
I can't wait to get one myself!
Have you done any upgrades?

I really like it, but I'll admit I'm no expert. Out of the box with that mediocre scope, it'll shoot 1.5" groups at a 100yds with Hornady Vmaxs all day. I paid just under 500 Canadian for it, which is a little steep, but I do like it a lot.

Re: show some pics of your rimfire sticks!!

My Savage MKII BV.

Just finished making the adjustable comb on it.
The original Monte Carlo stock is so tiny, it feels like a youth stock. With this much lift I can finally get a decent cheek weld.

BTW: Does anybody here have a Boyds Tacticool stock for one of these, and can you tell me if it feels like a 'real' rifle in one of those?

Re: show some pics of your rimfire sticks!!

Hey guys,

A few guys have been sending me PMs about the adjustable cheek piece. If I had known you'd be interested I would have made a little DIY with pics and instructions.
I did it mostly as practice for my .308 stock, figuring if I messed up, the .22 would be the rifle I would miss the least until I got a new stock.

Anyway..

Googling I found a great write up with a lot of pics on how to do it the easy way. I could not make a better DIY,
so I'll share the link with you guys here.

I pretty much followed his recipe, only I used a cheap little band saw.

A little caveat though: You wont be able to take bolt out with the comb raised on a BV stock. You have to take the piece out.

PM me if you have any questions I can help with.

Cheers
