Gunsmithing Rock Creek Barrel Cost

I have a chance to pickup a AR10 5-R Rock barrel blank from someone. Does anyone have any idea of what a fair price is for it? or what they go for from Rock? My MA-TEN build costs are adding up and I want to avoid leaving $$$ on the table

A Rock 5R blank is just shy of $300, but I got my Rock 5R fluted 16" 1/8 CL middy for my AR15 for $90!!!

Ask Cutrifled (SP?) here. Paul is the Rock Creek guy on the hide.

The barrel is 26" 5-R and contured for an AR10 with mid length gas ports

26" and set up for mid-length gas port?
Personally, I'd let that go on by unless you want a 16" barrel.

I was planning on an 18" cut length with a Bennie Cooley added. Is your thought that mid length porting would be a cycling/reliability issue?

$400ish for the AR contoured blank would be my best guess. Depends on if this was a custom contour or something they run regularly.

Mid-length on an 18" barrel would work well.

Mid-length on a 20"+ long barrel is going to be unlocking bolt too soon IMO.

Thanks I am leaning toward 18" for dual function for mid range tactical matches out to 800 yds or so and possible 3-Gun heavy Metal if I get a wild hair. The Tikka T3 Tactical 24" is my main stay for hard core precision
