    I have a Model 10 staggered-feed action that I want to stock.
The stocks in mind are inletted for the 4.4 action screw spacing.

Are there any other differences in size or shape of these actions?

I'm going to pillar bed (and the receiver, natch)anyway, and if it's just the action screw spacing, can't I just enlarge the holes if necessary to get the 4.27 pillars installed?

The holes for the action screws would need to be enlarged anyway for the pillars, so making them oversize and filling them in with the bedding epoxy seems like a non-issue?

Am I missing anything? Are there any other differences in the actions that would affect the inletting? Not concerned about minor stuff....like I said it's going to be bedded, and I've got enough Dremel time to probably qualify as expert

The front mounting hole and the mag well area are the only differences. Another change Savage made was to the bolt release. Some of the newer actions have a bottom bolt release. So when buying a stock make sure it is for a side bolt release. Since you are using a staggered feed mag the only modification should be to the front mounting hole on the stock.

I put the Bell & Carlson Medalist Tactical on my .260 Which is on a Stevens 200 Centerfeed. It seems like a good stock so far and compares to the HS Precision on my Rem PSS .308.

Big difference between the short action 4.27" staggerfeed and 4.41" centerfeed is the staggerfeed has the mag well attached to the action; the centerfeed magazine is installed in the stock.

If you can make the different action spacing work, you can make a staggerfeed mag well work in a centerfeed, but you'll need to relieve some from the sides & bottom via Dremel.

    Thanks.
Probably leaning towards the Hart, although they're not in stock and I'll have to check on lead times.

I've really come to prefer the "tactical" style (although I don't really understand what that moniker means) with a much more vertical grip and a large palmswell, since all our shooting is from the bench, or prone.

The traditional style "angled" grip I find is uncomfortable to shoot. Strains my wrist, just doesn't feel natural and relaxed when shooting like a near vertical grip.
