wherever I may roam...
Am waiting to receive my 1st .308. A Savage model11 with factory dbm. Does anyone have any experience with the 20" E.R.Shaw threaded barrel that Midway is selling? This is what I am planning to replace the sporter barrel with. Am undecided on a stock, as it will be a hunting/target/steel rifle. Thinking probably B&C, just don't know yet. I'm on a pretty tight budget. Any suggestios are appreciated.
Thanks,
Eric

Re: Savage 11 .308

Try Mcgowen before them IMO. Mcgowen will give you a discount for being a first time buyer. Their prices are great, their lead times are short and their barrels shoot. I know Midway has barrels in stock and ready to ship but I wouldn't sacrifice quality in order to get your barrel sooner. Jim Briggs from Northland stocks a load of Savage prefits also. If you get a wild hair and want something even better contact Kevin Rayhill to chamber you a benchmark blank. Would recommend you look at Kevin's stocks also. Way better options for a combo rifle than B&C offers. Use your google fu and look for stockade stocks.

Thanks for the suggestions, but a bit outside my budget. Would use a factory heavy but then would have to cut crown and thread. The B&C's seem to be a good blend of quality and price.
Has anyone usd one of the Shaw barrels?
