Hello,

Question for you guys/gals. I have a savage bolt (savage striker 300WSM pistol) that had some left over grit/cleaning solvent in it from when the gun got cerakoted. Myself along with a local gunsmith took the bolt apart and got all the junk cleaned out of the bolt assembly. Re-assembled the bolt, everything as far as safety checks and function work like normal.

Question I have, is when double checking the function to make sure everything was back like it was suppose to be, I noticed that the trigger seemed a lot lighter then it had before in the gun. After a little playing around with it I noticed that if I bring the bolt back only half way to re-cock the gun, the trigger seemed very light. Yet if the bolt was pulled fully to the rear then closed it seemed about the right trigger pull/weight as before but was noticeably different weight of pull vs half bolt throw.

I put a trigger scale on it and did both versions. Half bolt throw was releasing at 20 oz every time. When I did a full bolt throw to the rear it would release at 48 oz every time.

Is that normal? Ive never noticed that before but during dry fire practice I would always do a full bolt throw to help muscle memory after the shot broke lose.

Thanks in advance
