Savage Stealth Evolution problems

Howdy,

So I am in the middle of a 700 build in 300 WM and decided to get something to shoot out of the box in the meantime. After reading around I decided to try the Savage Stealth Evolution in 300 WM.

Out of the box the rifle looked great and I was pretty pleased. Threw some extra high rings on (because of the continuous rail) I mounted the scope as was ready to go.

After working on breaking it in and a half a box of ammo I was trying to figure out what the heck was going on as I couldn't keep consistent. I went to readjust my windage and realized my rail had literally rattled loose. Now I say loose I mean LOOSE. I can wiggle the entire base side to side.

So I emailed Savage last week asking what the torque specs were and if this was normal. No response. I emailed again. No response.

To my questions:

Should I be checking torque specs on a factory new rifle? Anyone else having this issue? Did I do anything wrong here? Is this crappy customer service normal with Savage? Think I should have gone with an RPR.

Thanks for any insight.
