I've finally located my .22 training rifle candidates in stock and available at a distributor. I checked out the Savage TRR-SR...nice, Boyds Tacticool stock, Accu-trigger, rail system and available at $538 tax included. Next, the new CZ 455 Tacticool rifle. I'm told it is exactly the same rifle as the Precision Trainer except in a Boyds Tacticool stock same as the Savage... available at $513 tax included.
From the threads I've researched it seems both rifles are pretty well thought of. They seem to be direct competitors, same stock.... maybe different attributes. For me the Accu-trigger and the threaded barrel are nice features on the Savage.... the rail system is awful ugly and would likely need replacement, so that's not part of my consideration as an advantage. Maybe it grows on ya if you own one.
The CZ trigger reportedly is not so nice, but overall quality is said to be better. A more substantial rifle I'm told, thought to be slightly more accurate... no threaded barrel. The CZ is $20 cheaper.
Thoughts ? I have not had an opportunity to actually try either of these rifles...
The dealer does have a CZ 455 Precision Rifle in the shop that's very, very nice, but also $870. I know the Manners stock is nice, but $360 nicer then the same rifle in the Tacticool ?
