Your short answer is, Yes, absolutely.
Long answer. Any of the last generation of decent scopes are still as good as they ever were and are sometimes available for decent prices. Some can even still be had brand new. Despite what has been said, the Vortex Gen I, the Nightforce NXS and even the early F1s are as good as they ever were. I still have an older HDMR that seems to work just as good as it ever did to help me hit what I'm aiming at. If you think about it, the S&B PMII is a last gen scope and I don't see them being kicked to the curb. These are all solid scopes with proven track records.
Are they as spiffy and neat, and yes even "as good" as the newest crop? No, I'd say not, but you won't miss your target and the scopes are still as good as they used to be. Also, as mentioned, the last gen Steiner military. Add the USO's and even the SWFA 5-20 HD. All workable solid scopes that can be had for less used. I wouldn't throw them out.
But then my realistic budget is talking.
