[email protected] 3200fps in a 308 ????
For your next confirming test, I strongly suggest being careful about the angle of the sun to your chrono.
I had some .357 Mags clocking over 2,000 fps with what should have been 1,400 fps loads, because I had my back to the sun and the gas cloud expanding laterally as it went forward from the muzzle was tripping the stop screen, shall we say, a bit early.
Changed angle of fire 90 degrees so the sun was at my side (SAFE location--I like open desert), and the speeds AND velocity variations went back to normal.
If you're stick with the sun at your back, shooting through a blast shield to keep the gases away from the chrono would most likely help a lot.
