So I've never done this but I buddy of mine who shoots PRS recommended that to do this to prevent recoil slippage.

I was always under the assumption that if it's a quality mount and torqued correctly, this problem shouldn't arise.

Anyone mount their scopes like this?

I would think this would fuck up proper eye relief, and lead to a shitty position on the rifle, and negatively impact accuracy.

edit:but I guess it depends on if you have a long rail or not, still pointless

Like all the users said with quality rings and proper torque the scope shouldn't slip. Spuhr recommends Rosin on large calibers so just do what they say. If I'm running separate rings I do try to get the stance as wide as possible based on available rail length and my eye relief.

That used to be a thing back in the day with shitty products and shitty quality, it isnt really the case these days even with products that are only slightly shitty.
