Planning on shooting steel with 175g FGMMIn the scope sub forum there is a thread at the top with tips on asking scope questions. You will get more scope help there. Let us know what cartridge you are shooting and what are your targets? Big steel or are you after tiny groups?
For a loooong time. Just like big greenI think leupold is behind in the optics race lots of choices out there

175 gmm is not limited to 1300 and in. At the South Dakota Guardian match, lots of us were taking that cartridge quite a bit further. Just have to make sure you scope has the ability to dial it and reading the wind is key. When you say "over 1000 yards", I assume you mean another hundred yards more. Because beyond that your ammo of choice is running out of steam quickly.
You can go off roading in a Bentley, too.......175 gmm is not limited to 1300 and in. At the South Dakota Guardian match, lots of us were taking that cartridge quite a bit further. Just have to make sure you scope has the ability to dial it and reading the wind is key.

I get your point. But do you get mine?
Sure. There are better choices out there now that travel through the transonic a bit better. For example, the Berger 185 that Federal loads as well. I would much rather take that load to that distance and even further just to stretch the legs. You can go off roading in a Bentley, too.......

Well being that Jim Gilliland took out an enemy sniper at a little over 1367 yards (1250 meters) with an M24, I guess a hit is a hit. Or in the case I mentioned, 5 shots taken, the last three being hits on 30 inch by 30-inch steel. I don't think that tumbling, backward projectiles would be able to hit 3 in a row.It was probably yawing sideways like crazy, but a hit anywhere on steel (even backward, I guess) still counts as a "hit" right?![]()
