Daylight shooting.
Generally shooting out to 200 yards - would like to have capability of out to 1,000 yards.
Prefer 30 mm tube.
Prefer scope with good eye relief/box.
Ideally zero stop.
Open to first or second focal plane.
Any suggestions would be appreciated - thanks.

Take a look at the DMR2 and XRS2 in the Bushnell Elite Tactical Series. Great deal from GA Precision on them right now includes a Kestrel 5700 Sportsman:

Thanks for the recommendation. Not convinced it's the scope for me however, it is a great deal.

personally would suggest at the least looking into the Delta Stryker Hd 5x50x56 it is a 34mm tube very nice glass it is to my eyes anyway can only assume could be used to shoot 1k or more our ranges only go out to 600 yards so far . and its 1,595.00 if you find it on sale online
A SFP scope not much in the way of ret selection think there are 3 it is an illuminated dot . for the money its nice . its clear . its got a great range of usable mag . which ever you choose I do with you loads of fun , and years of enjoyment . and here is a link to the last place someone linked that were on sale https://www.edgunwest.com/store/scopes/item/delta-stryker-hd-5-50x56-sfp/

Thanks, I will take a look.

Those are just posted in the optics exchange they are not mine. What about those or the others suggested do you not like? Just asking because that may help narrow things down for you.
I keep going back to the Vortex Viper Gen 11 5-25x50 or the Gen 11 3-15x44. My only problem with these scopes is the 3.4" +/- eye relief.
For some reason, I struggle with the Vortex 3.4" eye relief.

I have possible scopes that meets most of my wish list items and would appreciate any feed back from forum members. The scope is a vortex viper hst 4-16x44 or 6-24x50. both are 30mm tubes, non illuminated which I don't need, and a generous 4" eye relief which I do need. Thanks in advance.

Sounds like you have the choice narrowed down to those 2. Why didnt you just ask opinions on those instead of not showing any interest when people just answered you? You could have saved time and we could have not wasted the time and effort to post opinions that you weren't interested in.

Actually, I was just watching various videos a couple of hours ago trying to find a scope that made sense and came across the Viper HST which seemed to fill most of my requirements. I have not narrowed my decision down to this scope but, consider it a strong contender. I was hoping that others may comment on the pros and cons of the scope. Apologize for any confusions. The comments and suggestions were all appreciated and followed up on for consideration.

Within your budget either:

Vortex Viper PST Gen II 5-25x50 w/ EBR-2C Ret. (FFP) (70MOA total elevation adjustment) 30mm diameter

or

Athlon Ares ETR 4.5-30x56 (FFP) (108MOA total elevation adjustment) bigger than what you projected: 34mm diameter

or if you prefer 2nd Focal Plane this one has super clear glass

Zeiss Conquest V4 6-24x50, ZMOA1 (SFP) (80MOA total elevation adjustment) 30mm diameter

However, if you can get a used one, or find it on sale somewhere I would rather recommend:

Vortex Razor HD 5-20x50 (FFP) (125MOA total elevation adjustment), but 35mm diameter
With Vortex no questions asked transferable warranty buying a used scope is not as scary as with many other manufacturers.

I have experience on all of them but my favorites and what I currently still have mounted on my long range rifles are the Vortex Razor HD, and the Zeiss Conquest V4.

This is my Bergara B14 HMR in 6.5 Creedmoor with the Vortex Razor HD.

Appreciate the recommendations and your comments on each scope. That's a great looking Bergara B14 HMR. Just curious if that is an Area 419 muzzle break and if you prefer FFP scopes for long range? Thanks again.

PST Gen II is generally easier to get behind in terms of eye relief flexibility than HS-T. Given what you are shooting eye relief should not be any sort of a concern. This is far from a boomer.

Basically, depending on which magnification range you want, I would lean toward PST Gen 2 3-15x44 or PST Gen 2 5-25x50 or Athlon Ares ETR 4.5-30x56. Around $1k, one of these is your best bet.

Thanks for the advice - much appreciated.

The muzzle brake is a self-timing Patriot Valley Arms "Jet Blast" 6.5 Creedmoor, and yes I generally prefer FFP because the reticle always stays the same regardless what magnification; with SFP the spacing for holdover is only correct at max magnification. That said I had shot older Zeiss scopes while being stationed in Germany, and the Conquest V4 just blew me away with its glass clarity, so I kept it on max magnification while shooting. I always was happy with the results but felt a little limited otherwise, now I've moved it to my .300 WM.

I looked at Ilya's recommendation and tend to somewhat agree, although the Athlon, even though I mentioned it has that 34mm diameter and you had mentioned wanting a 30mm. The PST Gen II FFP I believe, if you want new out of the box, is your best bet at meeting all your described specs, although in that case personally I would stick with the higher magnification of the Vortex Viper PST Gen II 5-25x50 w/ EBR-2C . Better to have the extra magnification and not need it than to find yourself needing it and it not being available but that is just personal preference.

The Vortex Viper PST 11 5-25x50 with the EBC-2C reticle does meet most of my wish list items. I was originally looking at the SFP but will take another look at the FFP. Thanks for taking the time to offer your recommendations/comments.

I have the 4-16x44 MRAD, Vortex cantalever mount and bubble on my varminter / range fun 223. It meets my needs for range fun and some predator hunting but it has not been used it deep winter cold yet. Its quirky to zero and use the CRT disks. Glass is average to my eyes. Its heavy and quite long profile but its on a 20" barrel toy that does not matter as much. The turrets are usable, good detent, tactile, easy to see even with my old eyes and so far its kept its zero. I have not really used the ret, simple wind as its just a range toy. The eye relieve is good for me and fairly forgiving. Parallax adj seems OK so far. Would I buy another? Since the price was right is why I got it and if I could get another at that price yes. Its typical Vortex good value.

I would also look at, if I had to pay full price for the HST and SS, no question I would go SS.

Hope that helps. Good luck.

I believe you would not be disappointed by it and the Vortex lifetime, no questions asked warranty has always given me peace of mind.

I wouldn't go with an HST knowing that the PST gen II's are available and below your price point. Try and get your hands on one. They sure are a damn nice scope for the money.

I agree with your views on the Vortex warranty. In addition, they have great customer service and the personnel are always professional. Those are the primary reasons I want to stay with a Vortex scope. Thanks for the PST recommendation and your thoughts on the HST.

The vortex pst 2 comes in sfp also.
There are some things I like about both the FFP and SFP scopes. I have been accustomed to shooting in rifle and pistol matches (center fire and rimfire). A recent purchase of a 6.5 cm opened up a whole new world of long range shooting. As such, I find myself asking what, upon reflection, are pretty dumb questions. Thanks for pointing out that the PST also has a SFP.
