I don't think it really matters if you are working with a mil or moa reticle.
So long as you don't wind up near a stop on either side when the rifle is sighted in.
Most folks I know dial elevation and hold for windage corrections.
Whether the reticle is centered in its travel doesn't really matter much in that case.
