ive been offered a barreled action that has a issue. the remington 700 300 winny chamber has a scratch that can be seen in a bore scope. its causing rough extraction and dented brass. the scratch is on the body of the case near the belt but not on the belt

can i get a reamer and barley clean it up by hand and not mess up the head space?

Re: scratched chamber question

Sounds like a serious "scratch"..

No, you won't be able to just retouch the chamber without opening up HS. However, if you have access to a lathe, youll be able to skim the face of the tenon and barrel shoulder pretty easy, once you cut the chamber a little.

Think of it as a mini barrel setback.
