Seekins ph3

Just watched the guns America YouTube. Looks interesting. Like the quick change barrels, although ths pinned collar seems like it might lend itself to play, and the supposed lightened bolt lift. It'll be interesting to see some start trickling out.
Not sure how they lightened the bolt lift going from a 90° to a 60° since that will give less of a mechanical advantage and you're trying to cock that firing pin the same amount with less ramp to do it. That said, I've never had a problem with any of my 90° bolts, Havak Hit included.

I was told by Seekins that old hit barrels work in the new hit rifle but not the other way around. New barrels won’t work on the old action.
I'm struggling to understand how this would work....all a barrel/action interface is is threads and headspace, which either work or they don't. How can it work for one but not the other?

AI AW/AX barrels will work on an AE but AE barrels won’t work on them. True AE barrels aren’t threaded under the lug. If the statement is accurate (I have no clue) I’d say something similar changed in those regards since the clamping paw is now inside the action instead of in front of the action on the rail. It could be just like the AI AE’s where the old ones weren’t threaded all the way to the shoulder and now they are. There could be a relief in the new tenons where they’ll still work in the old actions but the old barrels won’t work in the new. There’s plenty of ways they could be backwards compatible and it’s not as simple as a thread is a thread. It could also be the bolt nose recess and not be the threads at all.

Wouldn't the bolt nose recess affect headspacing and therefor only work one way? I'm curious from an engineering perspective to know how this all works.

what I’ve seen is the the new rifles support more of the case head. The new barrel tenon is slightly longer and would interfere with the bolt head of the old rifles

Send my PH2 Seekins Stock back in for an Mlok rail addition for an arca rail.
  1. Contacted them and they emailed a RMA w/ FedEx label that afternoon.
  2. Shipped same day
  3. 10 days later(including TWO weekends) back home, MLok installed.
I just cannot say enough about their customer service! Looking at getting a PH-3 from Scheels next.

Curious if anyone has been running the Hit M3 with the double stack aw mags and how it is doing? And assuming they play nice together.... where is the best place to pick up a bunch of aw mags?

If you haven’t watched the full video where GunsAmerica interviewed Glen and went thru the rifle you should.

Very subjective here - I like everything about the rifle except the ugly ass bolt. They should have coated it black. Again, just MO and very subjective. After watching the video and his rationale behind everything he did I have to buy one. I’m in search of the 20” model in 6.5 creed.

I initially thought he made a very poor move going away from the 700 footprint, but I now see why and feel his way is better. All of the features of the rifle are well thought out even down to the trigger pins. Sign me up. He has designed a better mouse trap IMO.

Unpopular opinion, but I feel the only thing redeeming about the R700 footprint, in modern times, was its universal adoption.

I am happy to see folks come up with a “better mouse trap”

I rec'd my 7mm PRC PH3 in May. I really like it. The adjustable comb, the ultra light magazine, and the full length MLok are all cleverly done. I prefer stout barrels, so that too was a good fit for me. I immediately spent a couple days trying to understand what ammo types it seemed to prefer. For each ammo type I fired 2x 10rd groups at 100yds, with a suppressor, and used mean radius (MOA) to compare them. Results:

Federal Fusion Tipped 175gr .37 (Wow!)
Federal Fusion Ascent 170gr .46

The following ammo types all did the same at .61-.67 MOA
Hornady Precision Hunter 175gr ELD-X, Barnes Vortx 160gr LRX, Norma Bondstrike 165gr

Did less well. Hornady Outfitter 160gr CX, MR .91

Ai at and ax barrels fit on ae actions, but ae barrels will not work on at/ax. The ae had a unthreaded part on barrel journal that lug covered. The at/ax barrel that's fully threaded works with lug.
