As always, sorry for the crappy phone pic.

I haven't fixed the stringing problem with my rifle yet, and I only fired 24 out of the 25 allowed shots too
grin.gif
But I couldn't care less so i'll post it anyways.

Wind was originally at my back, then switched to coming from the right. 5-12 MPH gusts the whole time. Hopefully later in the month i'll get a better target posted, even if I have to do it support side!

First time out with the rifle. It was alsmost dead on at 50 and only took 10 rounds to get it zeroed. Moved out to 100 and took about 15 rounds to get the come ups on aperture sight correct at 100.

My old eyes could not make out the black and white target at 100 so I applied an orange pasty over the 10 ring so I could find it in the aperture sight. The gun is a blast to shoot and very accurate.

Sorry for the out of focus pictures, but my camera phone is acting a little wierd lately.

Man, 1 shy of tying the SH record set by NesikaBay. And as you can see, it was all about me shanking the shot. It was the very last shot and I could feel myself tensing up. I didn't feel myself pulling the shot, but I felt a breeze kick up and held off on that last shot. Like icing a punter, my perfect score up until then got into my head. I know my body was stiffer than in the previous shots.

Still, this is by far the best I have ever shot. The wind was perfect, the group was perfectly centered, and the group size was less than an inch for 24 consecutive shots!

Clearly, 25X is possible. I just need the right conditions. BTW... I shot this during a live 100 yard 22 comp. We have 20 minutes to shoot 15 shots and I have enough time to get 40 shots in that time. The round when I shot this, I got all X's in my competition, which is the first time I have done that.

I should mention that I am shooting a new lot of ammo, which is the most accurate lot I have seen at 100.

I shot it on a MR63 target cause that is what I had. Miked the target and 250 with 17 X's is what it miked out to be. I thought the round at 3:30 was out, but it miked a 10 from the center of the X.

I started not to post it cause it was shot on the wrong target, but decided what the heck, I shot it, I'll post it.

Wow, the sun was in my eyes and very hot. I had some sort of issue with the paralax/cheek weld and had 3 shots way low right. Weird, but happy considering the sun was in my eye the whole time. I also had no front bipod. Shot from front pack and rear bag.

After shooting, I had a 3-shot group at 100 at 1/4" before I opened up the final 5-shot to 3/4". Over all, very pleased with the way this barreled action I received from the CMP is performing.

Regards,
DT

Here is Nesikabay's target for those who want to know what a 100 yard 25X looks like.

Damn! Looking back, I had tied his record with this month's entry... until now. Looks like he spent a couple of days trying to one up me;-) As his signature says, "You will lose."

Re: SEPT. 2011 SH 100 TO 300 YARD RIMFIRE COMPETITIONS

After shooting the 50y match (see my post in that thread), I also shot the 100y combo match target today. Actually I wanted to shoot the 100y match first, but since the 50y match requires CBS, I had to shoot it first.

I've made up a scaled target for 100 meters, since I cannot shoot at 100y (100y = 91.44 meters). 1" X ring is 28 millimeters in my target.

Actually the distance was 103m, measured with Leica LRF 1200. I was using a shooting range for moving targets, and I couldn't position the target at 100m so that I could also see it from prone.

The shooting position was kind of awkward, the ground sloping a bit towards the targets (the range is built only for bench and offhand shooting from within a kind of a cabin). I was also forced to shoot through the conditions, in which I suck, since I had limited time before other shooters would come.

I should've easily cleaned the 2.5" target, but did not. My combo target also includes 3.5" gong, which I cleaned but didn't include in the scores since nobody shoots it. I was planning to put similar 5 targets on the backer and shoot 5rds per target, but I was able to put only one.

Since my wind reading is worth shit, and I could't spot my hits after first 10rds, the wind corrections were guessplay. Holding of 2 mils worth for elevation didn't make it any easier... (I was trying to hold a tad up with 2 mil dot to get the shots centered, but as you can see from the target I quite didn't make it)

Here's the gun, it's an old bolt action biathlon rifle. I've threaded it 1/2-28" and it's wearing AR-15 suppressor (BR Tuote from Finland).
