Ive seen this before and find one major problem with it. When the sheepdogs protect the sheep, they are actually enabeling the wolves by allowing the sheep to make them selves weak. If the sheepdogs didnt exist then the sheep would arm themselves and become sheepdogs in order to protect themselves. They wont as long they have sheepdogs to rely on to.
Lets get rid of the sheepdogs. Sure a few sheep will be slaughtered but in the long run they will be stronger for it. Lets face it, having sheedogs is a form of government socialism. Paying to protect the weak is no different than paying to feed them.
As for me, Ill remain a non-aligned independent operator.

The problem becomes acute when sheepdogs like themselves too much and think of themselves as to be a bit more than a sheep and just sometimes sheepdogs get to taste juicy lamb meat not to mention that most of the sheepdogs are actually run by, paid by and governed by wolves.
But hey as long as we're in Animal farm all is well...

I partially agree with you in that those who are physically able, need to step up and protect themselves. I am a great proponent of making sure the able woman is also able to protect themselves. My wife carries a 9mm and knows how to use it.
The wolves love to pray on the young and the old, as they are the easy targets. These two groups need and deserve the protection of the sheep dog.

Well I guess you guys will not need any help when a pack of wolves get you down. Even the grizzly can be brought down.

Sheepdogs, Wolves? Meh... Neanderthal here(encased in glass, in case of emergencies break glass...). If it threaten's the herd, shoot it,kill it, cut it, then cook it over an open fire, eat it, then dance around the carcus in the moonlight celebrating victory.
I believe in walking quietly and softly taking the role of the lamb until a situation arises for the presence of, and actions of, the lion.
