A guy I used to work with had one for his daughter to hunt with, light pencil barrel at 18” I think, cut off stock with like 9” pull length that had little bear prints painted on it. It was actually really cool and super light and handy but still not much recoil. Anyways, it had an amax load and she killed lots of deer with it for many years growing up. For a kid it’s pretty damn perfect.
I had an 18" 6br, 7.5 or 7.7 twist. I ran 105hybrids and 107smk in it with h4895. I got 2740fps with h4895, varget and 8208 were slower. I believe 4895 was able to get more complete powder burned in short barrel.
Bit of data from my load dev this weekend:
18inch 6BR, 87vmax, 108gr ELDM's
31.3gr h4895 = 2920fps with the Vmax's
30gr Varget = 2645fps with the ELDM's
The accuracy node with the Vmax appears to be around 30.5gr h4895, which nets ~2845fps. I think I should be able to get 2700fps with the Eldm's if I switch to h4895
that’s pretty awesome for a short barrel, I throw some light loads through my dasher and got 2771 with 105 hybrids over 30gr of varget but I’m in a 26” barrel.
