Re: SHOT SHOW: LEUPOLD MARK 6 3-18x44 video

i love the idea of having a 3-18 in such a small package. i know leupold is stepping up there game a lot, but....im still a little hesitant to drop over 2 grand on one of their products. at that price range theres just too many options

I don't think the 3-18 is illuminated, I wish it was.

What would you have liked to see differently, or what was your biggest objection. I'm not compensated in any way buy Leupold, and really have no emotional stake vested in it other than they make stuff here.. just curious?

I look at it as a brighter/tougher/higher-mag alternative to the 3.5-10's I've been running on my suppressed recon carbine for years with little increase in size/weight. In fact, it's shorter than the 3.5-10mk4 if I am not mistaken.

Great for an SPR build IMHO.

Re: SHOT SHOW: LEUPOLD MARK 6 3-18x44 video

This scope looks to compete at least in specs with the Nightforce 3-15 F1 scopes. Pretty cool Leupold is stepping up their game. I would be curious to see the reviews of the eye box and durability. Its nice to have another option that is made in the US.

I agree, and this is a larger tube with IMHO "better" knobs and shorter. I think it would have more light based on my review of the Mk8 CQBSS optic... so far the best glass I've ever seen.

Re: SHOT SHOW: LEUPOLD MARK 6 3-18x44 video

Best glass you've ever seen eh? They must be making some kind of stride in the market, thats impressive. I like the new turret designs also. FFP too right? If it's anywhere around 1500$ it's a steal. And i for one will jump on it. They could have a real winner if it's priced below the NF F1 and has better glass and still all the features to compete.

Re: SHOT SHOW: LEUPOLD MARK 6 3-18x44 video

Well, I don't have any field time with the 3.5-25 Mk 8 or the new Mk 6's, but my experience with the Mk8 CQBSS is that, well.. I'm affriad to say it.. it's the best glass I've ever seen.

Re: SHOT SHOW: LEUPOLD MARK 6 3-18x44 video

What would I like to see different? Price!

I love the concept of the scope, but for $1,600 I'll go with something bigger, e.g., Nightforce. I guess smaller doesn't mean cheaper. Leupold will eventually lose money on these and they will be discontinued. Give me the same glass as in the mark 4 at $1,200.

I know its weird to see leupold doing that well now but even Frank's review spoke very well of the Mark 8 CQBSS and the 3000$ Mark 4 with the pinch lock turret IIRC. More competition the better, especially if this Mark 6 series is their intermediate tactical scopes between the old mark 4s and the high dollar mark 8s.

If the glass is anything comparable to the Mark 8 CQBSS and is around 1600$ has FFP, Zero stop, matching turret/reticle, 34mm main tube, and illumination. You wouldn't be willing to try it out over the 2200$ NF F1?

Re: SHOT SHOW: LEUPOLD MARK 6 3-18x44 video

From the other thread:

"Mark 6 1-6x20mm (34mm) 7.62 M6C1, Matte, Illum. Front Focal CMR-W, $1,949.95
Mark 6 1-6x20mm (34mm) 5.56 M6C1, Matte, Illum. Front Focal CMR-W, $1,949.95
Mark 6 1-6x20mm (34mm) M6C1, Matte, lllum. Front Focal TMR, $1,949.95
Mark 6 3-18x44mm (34mm) M5B2, Matte, Front Focal CMR-W, $2,199.95
Mark 6 3-18x44mm (34mm) M5B2, Matte, Front Focal TREMOR 2, $2,549.95
Mark 6 3-18x44mm (34mm) M5B2, Matte, Front Focal H-58, $2,549.95"

As far as Leupold having sales, good luck. Mil/Leo pricing will probably be there though.

Re: SHOT SHOW: LEUPOLD MARK 6 3-18x44 video

Hard to say indoors, but the CQBSS I reviewed may be the best glass I have ever seen. No kidding.

http://tacticalgunreview.com/2011/09/13/leupold-mark-8-1-1-8-cqbs-review/

We had a truckload of good glass out there, Primeir, USO, S&B, Kahles, IOR, etc.. and set them all to 8x and lined them up next to the CQBSS and all looked at each other shaking our heads in disblief. No joke, it's amazing glass.

The reticle of the 3.5-25 may be my new favorite due to how it illuminates brither in the center, then two gradients of dim/dimmer for the mil-marks in the Horus reticle.

Sorry for the poor quality pic, best I could do at SHOT at the moment.

Re: SHOT SHOW: LEUPOLD MARK 6 3-18x44 video

I would like to give one of the new leupolds a go. I haven't been able to locate one forsale. If anyone has vendor info please pass it along.

Re: SHOT SHOW: LEUPOLD MARK 6 3-18x44 video

Last I heard scheduled market release is June.

2 things I think Leupold is messing up on, 1. They are not promoting these new optics very well at all to the general public and 2. their pricing for dealers compared to their .mil discount makes it a tough sale. I can't help but think they don't want the general public as customers.

Agreed, they are not even listed on their website. WTF
