Rifle Scopes Should I upgrade my scope or get a new one?

I have a 4.5 X 14 Luepold VariX III on my 308 LTR. I am about to start working with the rig. It is the standard duplex retiicle and knobs, adj parralax hunting scope. I only have access to a 200 yard range right now, but by next summer I will have a 600 yard available.

I was thinking about adding Mark 4 turrets and maybe a different reticle. Is this a good choice, or should I just put the money in a different scope?

Thanks

What you can do is ask Leupold if they can add a CDS type turret on the elevation. This will allow you to externally adjust elevation, yet not add features that are not needed in a hunting scope. It keeps the turret low profile and I feel would be desirable to a hunter. Should only cost you $90 or so. Honestly at 200Y you wont have to dial much, but as you take it out further you can practice reading your dope chart and dialing. Put some money away and by the time you have access to a 600Y you will be good to go.

In short a CDS turret will be value added, even if you decide to keep it as a hunting scope. Any more than that and it will best to get another optic.
