Those who have been around the hide certainly dont need an intro to PTG and what they do. It seems as though their parts - and to a greater extent their tools - are a standard fixture with top tier gunsmiths throughout the country.

In the process of putting together the custom part stuff for the knob design I posted on here a bit back I have had the chance to see these guys at work a little bit. The customer service they have shown me as the little nobody customer is frankly astonishing.

I have not had the opportunity to serve my country in a military capacity (uniformed anyway) - so there is no heroes story to my background. I don't work with tactical units or swoop down on terrorists in the dark of night. I am not a gunsmith, nor do I order PTG parts in bulk.

In short - from a strictly business perspective there is no reason why PTG should pay attention to me as ANY kind of priority customer.

And yet, when you have a genuine question, the willingness to interact and understand what my needs are and then to see what they can do to make them happen is astonishing. Called up Kory to check on the bolts? Turns out they slipped through the cracks somewhere and didn't go to production. I was able to listen in real time as Kory right then and there talked with a guy and fixed it. Immediately. And then hopped back on the phone and gave me an estimated date of when the first run should come back from production.

Some would argue "but thats their job". Maybe. But they could just as easily ignored my call, given me a canned answer, gotten irritated at me for even bothering them, or one of a hundred other responses that I have seen some smiths and manufacturers take with members here over the last little while.

PTG took my query seriously. Determined that yes there was a problem with the order. And rectified it immediately, communicating not only validation of my concern but explaining what had happened and providing specific information about how it is being fixed.

Service like that for the "little guy" who needs 3 parts from a first run batch of a custom bolt knob? A whole gee-willikers $60 order? Thats incredible.

Some who have read some of my other threads know that the willingness to accept/provide sub-par service in the firearms industry that wouldn't be accepted in other markets is a pet peeve of mine. Just as we sometimes discuss and air the bad on these forums, I thought it fair to take a minute to air the good as well.

PTG guys are a real stand-up full-service precision machining outfit in a day and age where its more economically feasible to pursue mediocrity. Thanks, guys.
