Hello All, I purchased a super cheap Sig SRD 556 Mono suppressor and am working on the paperwork, by super cheap it was less than the Tax stamp. Unfortunately I can not find much information online about the can. I have read that it was a government overrun designed for 249's or that it was a prototype before the non- mono core designs. I have also read that it is straight inconel but I find that hard to believe for the price.

Does anyone else here have one? I am not expecting it to be quiet but I am planning on either mounting it to my m4 knockoff or building a 11.5 upper and pin/welding it to the barrel to try and reduce the weight penalty ( the thing is a brick outhouse)

Any information would be appreciated about this can. Thank you.

If my feeble mind remembers correctly, I think I was told that it was designed to run wet with a machine gun. Not sure if that makes sense, but somewhere in my mind that memory is bouncing around.

I dont think those are the same, mine (well mine as soon as the ATF allows it) is supposed to be a monocore style. And it doesn't have the spikes on the front its flush.

Damn lucky you. I wanted to buy one about a year ago but when I went to buy one the dealer on gunbroker was out. They should sound great with the huge volume, but they are pretty heavy. Who did you buy from and do they have more?

I want to say osage guns, but it was a while ago. I have been dragging my feet in completing the paperwork for it. I doubt they would have them. I saw they were heavy and my ffl said it was loud for the size (he has a lot of cans) but the price couldn't be beat.

That looks like it, my box says "MIL-SRD556-MONO" then below that says silencer 556 stainless monocore direct thread. Its in a plain white box with no other markings. That link has the first two reviews I have ever read and they both say they are made out of different materials.

Diesel, there sure is not much consistent, nor credible, info out there. I think a lot of folks confuse these with the more common SIG cans when they do reviews. SIG seems to have put them out for a low price To sell them off, and then washed their hands of them. They ended up going for dirt cheap, so you can’t go wrong.

True, that's the only reason I got it
Dirt cheap and my only dedicated 556 can. I agree I'll just use it and enjoy it, but I did want some more information. I'll probably end up calling SIG and seeing what they can tell me about it. Then there wont be any question. Hopefully they know!!
