Rifle Scopes silliy to put a mildot scope on a 40x 22?

Re: silliy to put a mildot scope on a 40x 22?

im gonna get a 3200 mil/mil for my 10/22 so no its not a silly idea. the mils may not correspond to the same as a big bore but its all relative. they are reference marks and once you learn how they correspond to the 22 round you choose, its gonna be really nice. at least in my mind

Re: silliy to put a mildot scope on a 40x 22?

My rimfire has worn at one time or another:

Leupold Mark 4 6.5-20 Mil dot
Bushnell 6500 2.5-16 Mil dot

and now a 6-24 Viper PST MRAD.

Nope, not silly at all

I dunno I just put a 5 - 25 USO with a H-37 on a rebuilt Remmy 541XR. It seems to fit just fine

The only reason I don't like a FFP mil dot on my 22lr trainer is that you are shooting paper and at high mag it will obscure the tiny .22 inch X ring you'll be trying to hit.

That said I run a SS 10X on mine because it's what was in the safe w/o a home.

If it's what you have mount it up and shoot it.

Eventually I'd like to get a T-24 or a T-36 but for now the SS works.

Re: silliy to put a mildot scope on a 40x 22?

For some of my 22LR I have used the Bushnell Tactical line, Weaver Tactical line, Vortex PST, and Leupold Mark 4 10x and 16x. I know a few guys that have Nightforce on their 22LR rifles.

There are a lot of great choices to go with.

There is a lot of drop in a .22lr. Ranging is even more critical than with a fast high powered cartridge. Unless all you do is shoot targets at a fixed range than I think its a bit silly not to use a scope capable of ranging. The bigger problem is finding a good ranging scope that will also focus close for indoor matches.... Well, one that isn't a $3,000 March that is.
