We went to the range today and she really lived the .38 but the problem was that after a while she wasn't able to squeeze the trigger alm the way. Because the trigger pull is long but it was really heavy. She can handle the kick and lives the way it feels but doesn't like the trigger pull. Has anyone found a conversion kit to make it a lighter trigger?

What he said. We really need more details on this one.

Assuming you're talking about a revolver, you'd be better off getting her used to it. Lightening the trigger will reduce reliability

OK, I'm assuming now that you're talking about a J Frame though since you said a five shot, and I'm also assuming you're talking about a hammerless non-exposed hammer version so shooting single action isn't possible. I'm just not positive as there's nothing with pink grips on their website, so it's probably something exclusive to your dealer.

Like was said earlier, messing with the trigger pull can affect reliability as then you're starting to play with hammer spring tensions.

Here's my suggestion. Have her try out an auto like a Glock 19/26 or something in that range. My wife alternates between a G19 and a subcompact XD. The trigger pull on those are much lighter.

With Cerakote, they can even be done in pink.....

The factory trigger set up in my S&W 640 felt like it was dragging or "gritty".

I had good gunsmith dress the trigger action. The pull is now smoother and more consistent. In feels easier when I pull the trigger, but doesn't change the striking force.

As stated before, changing length of pull may cause misfires.

funny shit

What purpose is the gun going to serve? Fun range toy or ccw? My wife is very small and has a 686 with 5" barrel and loves the shit outta it! It is just a range toy and hunting gun, no way she could conceal it if she wanted to, but it is a good fit for her. I say goto the toy shop and just handle everything they have to see what fits her. Also, the nice thing about having a larger (not snubbie) gun is it is more managable, again...not a ccw gun though.

You can give most any S&W a trigger job. My grampa always did it him self and was able to get great results. I don't think you would have a problem with having a smith tune it for you.

I had a S&W 625 I used for USPSA competition for some fun one year. I sent it to S&W performance shop. (there are a few good wheel-gun 'smiths around though.) I just wanted S&W to do it. I had them chamfer cylinder and lighten trigger. It took the trigger from what I perceived to be a gritty rough 10# to a smooth, Sig-Sauer DAK-like trigger of 6.5-7#. VERY controllable.

My suggestion, get her the 442/642 (black-colored / stainless), buy the aftermarket Hogue grip in pink if that sells her over, and send it to S&W. I sent my 625 on a Friday afternoon, I missed the UPS delivery back to my house on Tuesday, of the following week!!

Another thought, depenind on purpose of gun is to have an XS type front sight installed. Factory sights are kinda just there because, kinda like 3rd brake lights in cars in the US after 1986.

Best of luck!!

Sounds like the double action trigger pull became a bear after a bit. Shoot more! Also, pull the hammer back and shoot some single action, easy as pie.

Re: Smith and Wesson .38 for wife

All she may need is a couple of tennis balls or racket balls to squeeze for a few mintues a day until she can pull the trigger. IE build up grip strenth! Or you can just let her dry fire the gun often to build up grip. I have also found that a light dumbbell and some wrist work also helps if havinf limp wirst FTF issues in auto guns.
