I’m always cognizant of a saying: “What’s said after a “but” in a sentence is the real truth” so I want to structure my response properly.

You can build a fucking awesome rifle for half that price but, I absolutely understand the allure of an AI.

i believe i chose the 6.5 for the example above but they offer several other caliber options as well a few different rifle scopes.

I'm not complaining, we're doing well. I have a rifle that shoots fine. I'll likely put together a rifle in the next year just because it would be awesome to do so... but it's nice to dream a bit.

I use the car analogies a lot. Guns are not Porsches (I really want a GT3RS) or other really high end cars. Hell, a decent street motorcycle costs twice what that AX package costs. Nobody bats an eyelash at a 25k Harley, and those are garbage. I just purchased a strictly off road motorcycle, almost twice as much as that AX. The gun is cheap, especially if you actually get use out of it. Save your money and buy the AI.

So I wanted an AI for a long time. I was an early FN SPR fan, and got one (tax+rifle = 1040). Relatively speaking, a damn inexpensive rifle in a McMillan stock, great trigger, and great barrel. I put a good scope on it and can still shoot clay pigeons at 500yds. But still wanted the AI. I have shot lots of rifles, most PRC competition custom rifles of all makes. They were interesting, but no more precise than my FNSPR. Still wanted an AI.

Long story short, the FNSPR is the best bang for the buck in terms of precision (change the barrel to your caliber of choice). But I continued to save and finally bought an AIAT. It is freaking awesome! If you want the best PRC rifle, an AI may not be your choice. However, if you want the ability to get a great rifle, that can be manipulated to fit you like a glove, so that you can may really precise first round shots/hits...then an AI will put a smile on your face. And given the cost of competitive PRC custom rifles, I would argue that an AI is a bargin. So there you have it, and I am still smiling.

ok, so the fantasy is evolving.....i just read that the new AXSR is coming out.

In my misguided imagination AI will most likely beg me to purchase one of the "old" models if only to rid cluttered shelves of of ancient stock.

....being a noble sort and in the interest of combatting Covid and aiding our troubled economy it behooves a gentleman to do so.

This rationale flows like a river.

Must go and purchase a lottery ticket.... it's a sure thing.

Thats exactly what AI’s vendors have been doing with AXMC’s. They’ve been on huge sale for almost a year now.

With the ASR coming out, this is the time when past product of the most recent generation will take a hit. Happens every time AI starts a new Gen.
