I just got in 3 RRA LAR-15 lowers. I have a few rough ideas on where to take these but I would like more input. I already have a LAR-15 5.56, LAR-8 308, and a 458 Socom carbine, so these will be niche builds with no real purpose other than to satisfy my addiction!

One of them will probably be a budget build for the wife. I'm thinking 16" carbine as short and light as possible. Hot pink furniture will make me cry, but if it gets her out to the range a few times a year, it's worth it.

For the next one, I've been reading good things about the 6.5 Creedmoor. Is this the most accurate round offered within the AR15 platform? I'm a reloader so factory ammo availabilty isn't a concern. 24in Bull barrel, Magpul PRS stock, and a high mag scope seems to be in my mind right now.

I'm thinking I want a 20in Vietnam-era looking AR for the last one. I like the look of the smooth, triangle full length handguards for some reason.

Is there any other combinations I'm overlooking? I'm getting ready to start ordering the neccessary tools to build the uppers for the first time. The budget build for the wife looks like it might be cheaper to buy a standard A4 DPMS or similar upper than order separate parts and do it myself.

    Thanks for the help, Dan

6.5 creedmore is a ar 10 length round. I thin you are talking about 6.5 grendel. Either way I don't have much experience with those rounds.

THIS^^^^^but you dont have to drop it off at the gunstore, just fill out the paperwork and get it mailed off with your check for the stamp. Once you get that going, you have 6 months or so to get it engraved.

EDIT: Just saw that you are in IL, so I dont know if you can have SBR's. Hell, I am actually surprised that you can have AR's there.

    1. Move to a free state.
    2. Start Form 1 paperwork to SBR at least 1 of those lowers
    3. Consider something in 300BLK, maybe even the SBR
    4. Consider a dedicated 22LR setup.

If you want to do a semi M16A1 version check out sarco inc. They had rifle kits at one time, but like everybody else everything is out of stock now. On the one for your wife, don't forget that there are guys on here that do coatings so you could get her whatever is her favorite color probably.

Yeah if I still lived in AZ, I would have a suppressor on the 458 and a SBR in the works. I have a dedicated AR-22LR as well, so I feel I have the necessary bases covered before these 3 lowers showed up. As far as the wife's, I'm pretty comfortable with Duracoat, so I'll just keep an eye out for cheap M4 furniture and parts that others are selling to upgrade their rigs.
