I have a 700yd range that a buddy comes over and we shoot. Hes got some serious sticks! Im currently getting my 308 together and so far just have a Winchester model 70 7Mag, Bushy Ar15, and a little savage .17. Here is a couple pics. That 338 sure rings this 1" steel gong at the 640 mark! The impact is just as loud as the crack from the rifle.

We where sighting in the 338 as you can tell on the steel gong. That 3 shot group in the center is 640yds. He shot 2, then I got behind it and shot the 3rd to coplete the 3 shot group. That enough proof for me that the Sako is VERY accurate rifle.

You are using some pretty mild steel if its putting that big of a crater in 1" thick steel. You will shoot that up in no time.

Thats some good shooting.

There is a group buy on some steel that might hold up better.
