I have to hand it to the father (along with the Pastor), if that's what happened. He must realize that his son will most likely face the Death Penalty in Utah, or the Federal Death penalty if the FBI/DOJ gets involved to that degree. I don't think they'll be able to plea this down or get a jury not to impose the death penalty. Nor can I believe the prosecution would ever pick a liberal jury that wouldn't impose it. We'll have to see.

I'm curious as to what's in the father's mind. I recall TImothy McVeigh's father and how he reacted to things. I mean, you can only raise your kids so much, and then you have to let them be on their own and make their own choices. Hopefully, they are the right ones, but....

Call me overly optimistic but I have been seeing a sea-change since a Trump’s miraculous come back.

I have heard several spins on what and who they might be including some of his own crew and team. That makes a little more sense. His group is close knit and fairly controlled. I don't think they would let a stranger just hang out right next to him like that.

I had mentioned yesterday that I hope they catch the killer and do so in a believable manner because we, the public could use a much needed breath of competence in our flawed system.

To me, I have been granted my wish. If it turns out that the shooters father and pastor actually did turn him in, that would very solidly firm up my belief in them having the right person. A parent and/or pastor stepping up to do such a thing has to be an incredibly difficult thing to to. In the case of the father, he knows going in that he and his family are going to be painted as complicit and probably threatened. Guilty by association as they say. It is likely a given that no parent would want to hand over their child even if they knew that child was guilty. That is just a parental instinct.

So I am comforted that this is probably the right guy and we may have a chance at some truth and facts being shared. It may take a while as the investigation and coming days of trial are weathered and I know we are all impatient.

I am personally going to pray for the shooter's dad and family. Turning his child in had to be very, very difficult to digest and act on.
