Im thinking of purchasing a state arms .50 bmg at a local gun show tomarrow, ive been reading and following on .50 for a year now, i was kinda set on a lar grizzley or a serbu, i liked the state arms and the price was right, i have also heard good accuracy reports on them, what is everyone else's opinions on the state arms?

Re: State arms .50 bmg

I had a Big Birtha for about 2 years and it was a great rifle. Built like a tank. I have shot many 1000 matches with it as well as several other 50 cals. If you don't mind the shell holder action or the higher than usual weight, I say grab it and you wont regret it.
With handloaded Amax I was getting about 14 inch average groups at 1000 yards. If I recall correctly, the best group I ever got out of it was like 8".

Re: State arms .50 bmg

Can you find the details? Barrel length, type of stock, etc. They did make them with a short barrel which is rather useless for a .50 unless you're hunting.1500 is a good price, new they're approx 2500 and up with about a 6 month wait.

Re: State arms .50 bmg

It was a 36in berrel wit approx. 300 rounds, a welded square tube brake( dont know the name for this design), the stock had two stainless rod coming out of the back with the recoil pad on it and a cheek peice, i beleive the serial # was 136 so its a earlier model. Its not a big bertha but idk what model it is, a rebel?

BUY IT!! Thats a deal. I shoot a State Arms Rebel. They are great guns and built like tanks. Larry at State Arms is a great guy to work with if you need anything for your rifle too.
