Hey all,
This is my first post and was looking for some advice. I am currently in the process of building my first target/varmint gun. I have a Stevens model 200 action, trued and timed by SSS
Douglas barrel 1/8 twist thats chambered in .243 win, 24 in long coming SSS competition trigger and recoil lug.
Gonna mount a Vortex PST 4-16x50 Ebr-1 moa reticle
Finally set it into a B&C medalist stock.
So my question is this...would this set up be enough to get me started shooting to about 600 or 700 yards are targets and groundhogs. I do not currently hand load but am saving up to get a rockchuck starter kit.
The reason for the 243 is that I used to own one years ago that i loved but got on the magnum bandwagon thinking it was better. Ive owned a .270, 30-06, 7 rem mag, 7-08, 7 STW and 300 win mag. Ive gotten rid of all these except the 30-06 ( grandpas gun) and the STW ( just to much damn fun) and want to go back to the flat shooting low recoil of 6mms.
