Sidearms & Scatterguns Sti trojan 9mm 1911

Im looking at one of these. Thinking about trying idpa my local gun shop has a sti trojan and a springfield range officer. Both 9mm about a $300.00 difference. It does not matter. I like the made in the usa stuff sti seems to be on par with better 1911s ice read it may be the best value wise inbetween the $500 and $2k guns. Any owners or opinions.

I have a Dawson Precision version and an RO. The STI has an edge on the RO (fit and finish, a little more accurate) The STI doesn't like Cobra mags. The RO doesn't care.

STI, absolutely.

I have a STI VIP in .45 that I use for CCW. Needed about $900 in work to make it 100% reliable (it was filled with a lot of cheap MIM parts) and the fit/finish was lacking in areas. If you get a STI, make sure it's a newer one that doesn't have any MIM parts.

I had a STI 9mm Trojan that I bought for USPSA single stack. The pistol proved to be problematic. Luck of the draw I suppose. I also had two ROs. Both ran fine, but I couldn't find a load for either that would satisfy the kind of accuracy I was looking for.
