Sub caliber rifles. .14 ..12 .10. Anyone shoot?

I've always been fascinated by the .17 Rem. but never gotten around to buying one. 4000+ FPS with a tiny projectile just seems like too much fun to pass up.

Over the past few years, however, I have started to see some wildcats in calibers as small as .10! These get loaded to extremely high velocities and while they are limited to shorter ranges, have amazing ballistics and energy.

The .14's really look interesting, including some Hornet-based cartridges, etc. that can easily be formed/loaded.

Does anyone shoot any of these or have any experience? What did you use for a rifle/barrel?

A rifle in a .12 or .14 Cal just seems to call my name.

Cheers,

Sirhr

PS mods: Feel free to move into reloading or elsewhere if more appropriate.

there is also a predator hunter named Blain eddy that has been knocking the snot out of coyotes for a few years with the .14, and swears by it.

I have a 14/221 Walker that shoots 12gr bullets. It is a pain in the ass to load for. The bullets are a bitch to seat. Cleaning rods, powder funnels, bullets, dies, load data, etc are hard to come by. Pac-Nor makes barrel blanks. It does shoot around 1MOA out to 200 yards so it is worth messing with if it sparks your interest. Used on rabbits, it lifts them off the ground and pinwheels them. On foxes, a pinhole entrance wound and no exit. Spotting hits on paper can be a challenge. PM me if you want any more info.
