Hello all,

I am looking for suggestions on a scope for a shorty hunting rifle, specifically, a Rem 700 AAC-SD 16.5 inch. I will be shooting primarily 100-300, with a few 500 yard shots, but would LIKE to be able to take it out farther if I need to. However, I am primarily concerned with weight/bulk.

Price range: Around or under 800.00

I've looked at the Vortex Viper PST 4-16x50 and the 2.5-10x32 and a few others. Not sure on SFP vs FFP for my purposes. I understand the benefits of both, just kinda not sure, especially if i go with a 2.5-10x optic, not sure I would be ranging targets at 2.5x hah so thus why the need for FFP.

I'm leaning towards the Vortex Viper PST 2.5-10x32 but would be open to other suggestions. I was concerned about using the x32 in a lower light situation (sitting in my blind at sunup). Do you think the x32 would work in the early morning/evening?

Thanks!

skip the 32mm vortex for hunting. Consider something in the 40 to 50mm obj class. FFP is debatably not needed on a 10x optic.
Some scopes to consider that dont weigh a ton:
SS 3-9
Vortex 2.5-10
Leupold has a bunch of scopes at or under $800.
Zeiss conquest 3-10x50

i think i saw that natchez has a bushnell elite for around that price range i think its a 10x 40 or something let me see if i can get you a link
