Sidearms & Scatterguns Surefire M951 Weaponlight upgrades?

Is there any practical way to turn my incandescent Surefire M951 to an LED and add a push button for it? All it has is the single tape switch with no plugs since it's an older model 3-4 years.

Or is it just better to buy a new one that's LED like the Executive models or a G2ZX?

are you just wanting a hand held?
i bought a Cree LED lamp upgrade for all my 6P&9P's they are amazingly bright but differant than the normal lamp and they dont seem as bright.

i left my two 951's alone

surefire clickie tail cap is a direct replacement as is the newer click / pressure switch port tailcap..

surefire also makes a led head.

May also try cree , or go to candlepowerforums.com they have a lot of upgrades .

An E series light would lighten it up as well. I chose to go this route when I did the led upgrade. You could pick up a VTAC mount if you wanted to save on the initial setup. Just my .02

I just don't like the lack of positive response when hitting the tape switch.

I have a Pentagon weaponlight with a tape switch that clicks when I press it in so I can feel that it's on and it just feels better. Surefire tape switches kinda suck.

So with any ARMS/Larue/etc.. mount I can mount the light on the side of my Larue 7.0 rail on my M4 and use a forward grip and my thumb to activate the light, if I had a push button endcap.

Making it LED isn't so critical, but I like the LED because it's brighter, lasts longer on batteries and is less prone to going out from rifle recoil, etc..

They got sued by surefire if I remember correctly.

For lamp upgrade I went with a Malkoff 235 lumen lamp. A great lamp. My 951 has both the tape switch and a clicky on the tailcap.
