Svage VLP-DBM

Re: Svage VLP-DBM

My dad has the magless version in 243 win without the accustock and it shoots 1MOA out of the box with 100 grain hornady ammo, I am wanting something that will shoot about 1/2 MOA with a bedding job and handloads, I have heard several guys say you cannot go wrong with the savages. I am really spoiled I have a Rem 700 223 5R stainless rifle that is shooting 1/2 MOA out to 300 yards consistently with a bedding job. Now I am looking for a longer range shooter, considering going custom but seriously considering the savage.

Re: Svage VLP-DBM

if you go custom go with the big horn action maybe a little more but it still has the floating bolt head, and i really do love savage i kinda wish i would have got a custom savage rather than a remington. but hey can't complain the remington does have a mcmillian.

Re: Svage VLP-DBM

Get the Savage... and then get this to go with it!!

I would like to introduce the new "ST RatMag"... pretty catchy huh?? This is a steel HK G3 magazine body WELDED to the factory Savage magazine body!!

There is still some work to be done... but the prototype is freakin awesome!!

Re: Svage VLP-DBM

The 223 family will be in the works shortly. I hope to have the parts in before too very long, then I can begin the design process.

Should be doable...

Re: Svage VLP-DBM

The feeding problems with the steel magazines has been resolved. I have them designed in 5, 8, 10, 12 & 15 round versions for the 243/260/308 & WSM calibers.

The WSM calibers will be with a less capacity of course than the 308 ones. Once they get up to a certain number of rounds, the pressures inside the magazine body gets to be too much and it is popping rounds out of the magazines. So, back off the higher numbers, and everything is all happy again!!

After I encountered some problems with the epoxy ones, adding the mechanical lock is just too much of a pain to continue. So from now on, with the new design, there will only be welded ones being made by me. The new welded versions are working out great!! So on we go...
