Hello I'm new here so I thought I'd share my latest project in hopes of getting some good feedback and the answers to a few questions from you guys, feel free to share your thoughts. I just recently purchased the action and I wanted to make sure I did all my homework before buying anything else.
ACTION: TAC-338 from Stiller Precision
BARREL: Krieger 27" 1:10 Twist
STOCK: McMillan A-5
I wanted to have a detachable box magazine I was leaning towards Badger ordnance's M5. They said it required inletting(not really sure what that means?)
There is the question of the muzzle brake. I'm not sure which one to go with because I know very little about them.
Then there is the question about the barrel contour. I wanted to have a heavy barrel contour with a straight taper. Not too familiar with krieger's barrel chart. I do know I will mostly be shooting prone from 800-1500 yards and I'm not going backpacking in the woods with this thing.
Next question, I was wondering if you pillar bed do you also glass bed? Is there a benefit to doing both over one.
last question, Stiller supplied me with a .301" lug. My smith recommended getting a tubs recoil lug .369". Is there really that much of a difference in the thickness?
