I had a friend teaching a class for LEO in the Dallas area and one of the LEO never cleaned his service pistol, ever. It was rusted shut and would not cycle. Good thing it was at a class when he discovered it.
if you are afraid of dogs, you should not be an armed police officer.
The dog was the decent one in this story, it was trying to save his owner from being attacked.
Of course the local police department rushes to "protect the identity" of yet another killer in their ranks.
One of these days people will have had enough & will be getting some Biblical justice on the perpetrators & those that covered for them & a lot of people aren't going to be a bit bothered by it.

Body cam footage will be standard ATF training when released.
Really sad. Arlington PD isn't know to be the best around here. They have a hard on for harassing people that Open Carry. One of em got their patrol car stolen not too long ago also.

Then they are all butt hurt that no one likes them and no one helps them when they are attacked. That's what happens when you attack the group of people that used to be your biggest supports.

If you never watched a couple of Shepard Mutt mixes attack and kill a lab...... well fear/ respect of untrained dogs is a real thing.

The article does not say if he even killed/hit the dog. I think this is going to be hard to articulate as a justified shoot. Its murder, just like the cali cops who all fired on the female hostage with the guy having a knife to her throat.

It was BS use of force because I'm sure his bat belt had a goddamn can of pepper spray and that's FAR more effective than a firearm against bear, let alone a dog.
Also, uh, what about the woman behind the dog? This guy "protected and served" his own ass first and foremost and that's all that's really obvious here. That woman's safety never came into it, he just drew and started blasting.

Perhaps the local politicians and police chief there could use with a good bit of Bible Thumping.
Perhaps one could start with reading them all about God's laws on vengeance and the rules for the Avenger of Blood to follow... then suggest it's a long way to the refuge cities & they may want to get a bit of a headstart?

So you have issues with dogs? Me too. However we were taught how to deal with them. Your going to get bite that's a given but one thing is for sure, if it slows it's going to bite, I assure you it will never use it's lower jaw ever again after clamping down that last time, ever. The lower jaw of all dogs are target points, an once comitted to your presented,.... bait take advantage of it. It only takes a second an that dog is done forever. I get many are not up for the knife fight anymore, could be that's the problem.
I don't think anyone cares about the dog. They care about the negligent lazy cop that kills someone and gets away with it. If a CCW shot a vicious dog I wouldn't GAF. But if he shot a bystander he would be charged, jailed and his name released.
Give our 2 tier justice system and those that all too happily enforce it.
Look at all the precursors in that. That guy had plenty of time to break that dogs lower jaw off, the interesting thing is I don't see the dog at fault here.
Anybody can get the video under the Freedom of information Act. Just contact the involved police station and fill out the proper paperwork

^^Called local LE, rural area and they were a long way from incident. They had several calls from locals
about the problem, and suggested waiting for them to attend but if the dogs happened to attack me
then its a green light. The keepers turned out to be affiliated with some gang, RSPCA and other Gov
agencies now involved. Reap whut you sow.

Dog was barking and ran towards officer, seen way more vicious dog attacks.
However don't plan on being bit iether.
