Texas

I've noticed some lines at gas stations and a run on bottled water at some western side of Houston grocery stores. We'll probably get a lot of rain if it parks it's slow ass over us for a while but the folks along the coast..... Corpus etc are probably going to take the brunt of it.

Hey, we ain't too far apart. Down here in Pasadena we've got bags on all the pumps, ATMs out of money, some water left, ice fucking everywhere, ironically. I've got the chainsaws ready to rock, some of my neighbors have big trees that tend to shed in good weather just waiting to ruin some shit. I dunno how bad it's gonna get, hopefully it dodges us, but some fat cats I know are saying it's gonna be worse than reported because they're trying to avoid panicing people or some such.

Looks like yawll will be alright inHouston. Somewhere between CC and Brownsville is gonna get wet. Batten them down. I remember what Celia did in 70. Corpus got shellacked.

Business as usual for the most part here. I did see an old, giant oak tree that was broken in half on one side. It was split from from the main "tower" & fell over. I assume it happened during a spell of about twenty minutes worth of heavy wind / light rain last night. Other than that, nothing here.

Grew up in real hurricane country (the Greater Antilles) and everyone unless absolute dirt poor was smart enough to live in reinforced concrete homes. Flooding was the only concern and my dad never bought low lying land.

I did sharpen up the Stihl this morning. I'm in the light pink from the map Tucker showed. That is up there with Allison totals. I wasn't here for Allison but I understand it was rather unpleasant.

I'm at ground zero.
Eye is gonna come right over us.
Getting the outer bands right now, hopefully it will help it break up and not reach cat 3.
Momma refused to evac and I work in a neighboring city so I can't be with her.
Do have a couple of friends on the PD there, they will check up on her,

While I concur, she is from a place that gets hit with typhoons 12-14 times each year.
I can't leave and she doesn't drive. She is more concerned about our material things.

Stick her in your jurisdiction's comm center and worry about building bridges in your relationship later, man. Fight with her now rather than bury her later.

Anyone here from around Killeen? I'm working at Hood next week, just wondering how f'd it is there...Assuming that flights are even making it in to Austin on Sunday.

YOu'll likely be ok. its far enough inland most of the wind will blow out..hopefully;)

Mayor of a small town in direct path was advising folks that chose not to evac to write their name and SS number on their arm, so they could be identified later. That's pretty direct, I'd say.
We're an hour W/NW of San Antonio and bands are just reaching us. Have seen what 30" of rain overnight will do up here, when a low parks itself over the Hill Country, and it's a rodeo, certain.
Hope any of you further south are good. Have a bunch of friends in Rockport and inland areas, and count they've made the night safe.

Round one down here has been exciting so far. Tornado watches, pretty good bit of rain, nothing major yet. Hearing from family that power has flickered some.
