That is a Big dude- NFL's Malik McDowell vs Cop vs Taser

Hi,

He needs to meet this member of Berkut in a locked cell..

I have a couple of problems with this, once he sat down, his resistance was passive. No reason to Tase him, wait for backup.
Dude was being an asshole, figuring his status (at the time, a bit of a "star") and he did begin to resist physically, but he stopped the physical resistance and started using passive resistance. The initial physical resistance still gets you a resisting arrest or detention charge.
When he first asked for a supervisor at initial contact, officer should have known it was going south, tell the guy, sure, I'll get someone here and call for backup and stall him.
FWIW, call this guy:

Whats the hurry?

He began the planning when he determined a stop was in order.

He had arranged/made the recon when the giant redwood stepped out of the vehicle.

Complete your plan "Uh, station Ill need backup, possibly a supervisor".

With backup on scene - Issue the orders - "Last time, License and registration please! I have observed violations and you are required to submit license and registration in the course of investigating those violations"

Subdue, err, Supervise the arrest on failure to identify to PO in presence of backup.

The steroids in that guys liver will end up killing him under stress of fighting the giant redwood or his backacne pops and makes the floor of the shop so slippery you can not effect an arrest.

Looks like the tall dude to his right would do.....

He kept sayin', "I need a Supervisor!". That should have been like kryptonite to the little cop, but dude was in it to win it!
:ROFLMAO:
I'm a big guy, and I can handle myself, but when that dude stepped out I'd be calling for backup, period. That he tries to handle him is comical. Eve drunk it's no contest. I'll hand it to him he had balls. I wonder if her recognized him and figured it would not go lethal given his socio economic status.

Taser = no effect. A Taser is designed to subdue a human being without permanently damaging them. They're not designed for giants who are larger than two normal human beings. Unless your Taser has an NFL setting you would be way better off using the pepper foam. I like how he was sort of surprised at first, and then ripped out the leads. :ROFLMAO:

The buzzing of flies to Lord McDowell. It's a good thing his family owns that burger joint and has pull at city hall.

Aren't the Berkut known for their non-violent methods and conflict de-escalation techniques?

I don't know why the vid is so entertaining. I think it's because McDowell isn't really even trying. Imagine how this would have gone if he was sober, pissed, and didn't GAF. He would have thrown that little guy around like a rag doll. It would have been like fighting a grizzly bear.

Wow. Little dude is a good wrestler. Impressed with him for sure. As mentioned, would have left him on the ground as he sat but obviously him and the lady knew what they were doing...Surprised the flak he is getting considering he came out on top. All plans go out the window. He improvised and overcame. Color me impressed.

They were up against a nearly uncommitted opponent. I think they were more lucky than anything.
Yes, it worked out all right, but imagine if that had not been a wealthy NFL player who was high/drunk, but some ghetto giant with nothing to loose who had no compunction against taking the cop's weapon and murdering him ala Michael Brown. It would have been over in seconds.

I think the cops actions were imprudent. Then again, unless I'm on the side with overwhelming odds, my first reaction is always to grab the radio and send a CFF or request backup. My idea of good risk vs bad risk is pretty conventional.

I've seen that pic so many times and this is the first time I've actually noticed that he was bending that stick. Holy shit dude is ready to kick some serious ass.

Him on a police force that has not bent over to leftist policies, VS. ANTIFA wannabe hard shit.....I'd pay good money to watch the ownage.

Although I def don't disagree with you on how I would have handled the situation, the officer did what he had to do and got the end result done. You cant give enough credit as I believe you make your own luck. His analysis of the situation and confidence in his ability got the job done. I am with you in the job maybe don't need to be done if handled differently but, it was handled without it turning lethal so there is a pos spin.

We can play what ifs all day long, and I hate what ifs. I like what happenedseds lol. And what happened is giant got man handled by a 5'8" stud. I have confidence in the officer being able to handle himself if the situation turned lethal...Maybe his overconfidence will bite him someday (as you mentioned getting in the face of giant when he was on floor) but as an armchair ninja with hindsight, Im impressed.

I'm curious at the training protocol..... exactly how many times is the required quota for saying "I'm gonna taze ya! I'm gonna taze ya! I'm gonna taze ya! I'm gonna taze ya!........"

And repeat.

And repeat.

And just in case they didn't hear, repeat again.

But this time(s), just in case they didn't understand the language you are speaking it in.... say it LOTS LOUDER for clarity and deicipherment.

Step 97 - see step 1

Rinse and repeat.

Cop shouldn’t have lied, saying there wasn’t a supervisor AND that he WAS the supervisor, and just gotten a supervisor.
I’m not really a “fuck the police” kinda guy, nor do I give a single shit about the NFL or its list of convicts on the payroll, but this was handled quite poorly by the cop. All over the victimless crime of spinning out in the snow.

an old cop i knew, refered to guys like that as “shooters”. reason being, anyone that big is too much to try to fuck around with; they dont follow instructions, they got shot.

had it been me, the dude wasnt being violent, but i didnt like the way he went to the vehicle and went where he wanted...i’da drawn my weapon. then i would have radioed for back up...and plenty of it. oh, and a dog, too. unleash a werewolf on him and see how big his balls are.

That cop is luck he didn't get killed with his own weapon. He did nothing to defuse the situation, in fact he made it worse.

When a police officer starts yelling obscenities he has lost all control. He was pissed and wanted to MAKE the individual comply. An officer yelling "Don't fuck with me!" is not acceptable.

Now, was the other dude wrong? No question about it.

Or better yet, radioed for a supervisor.
Two wrongs don't make a right, but it doesn't much matter if you're dead.
I realize there is no legal obligation to provide a supervisor, but the cop's small man complex got the better of him here.

As one of the other members, I have a lot of problems with his this entire thing went down. It’s embarrassing and wrong on many levels. With that being said, I’d need to know more than the video shows. In some ways, I agree with the nfl guy. It’s snowing. If he really pulled him over for spinning the tires a little in the snow then the cop has too much time on his hands. That’s not any reason I would have pulled anyone over. Now if he was doing 90 in a 35 in the snow while weaving or something then sure, but a little tire slippage for taking off in the snow? Come on. Then there is the whole point in that the dude was more than passive for a good while imo and was not really resisting. If the cop was going to make his stand on this stop then he should have called for backup immediately or as soon as the dude sat down and was compliant, gone back to his car saying he was getting a supervisor all while calling for back up. That was a shit show. Just my opinion. Those saying to put a bullet in him over this might need to re-evaluate your jobs, assuming you are cops. Yeah, I know stop the threat but from what I seen this guy was little of a threat. If he had been a true threat, this would have gone much much worse. I’d say dude was pretty tame overall.

Now, with all of that said, little man did play it dangerous with letting them go back and forth to the car like that. If he had had a gun in that back seat and really wanted to resist here, little man would have been in a world of hurt. All in all I’d say everyone came out lucky in a situation that imo should have never happened to begin with from what little I can infer from the video.

Watching the video, did subject have the officers taser in his right hand? When 2nd officer arrived, she should have used her taser and "drive stun" him, since his ass crack/back was free of clothing. After that, the 3 other officers should have been able to subdue him (which is what appeared to have been done). He was a pretty big dude, that's for sure. Back in the day, I would have probably waited for back-up with someone that big and I was a decent sized guy, back in the day, but I would have had to think about it for a second or two, LoL! Mac

Officer said, he was observed doing 60 mph and spinning out in the parking lot of the "stop & rob". That's what I gained out of the video anyway. Mac:unsure:

why take up for the nfl guy. all he had to do was hand over his liscense and insurance, probably wouldve got a ticket at best
I'm not taking up for the other guy. I'm downing the cop for a terrible attitude and, in general, poor/unprofessional behavior. The police officer MADE that a physical confrontation. Defuse the situation until you can get proper support.

im sure most of us here have been stopped at least once. when they ask for your stuff, just hand it over. when you start the ball asking for a supervisor and not obeying his commands he has to escalate his game. he may have been just making sure the dude wasnt drunk. IMHO the nfl dude brought it all on himself. End result he still ended up in bracelets. couldve been worse. Sitting down and not doing what he was told he looked like my three year old grandson being a spoiled brat. just my observation.
