That is a Big dude- NFL's Malik McDowell vs Cop vs Taser

Just watched the video, the cop is out of control, you guys saying he should have been shot are fucking stupid,,,, as soon as the dude asked for a supervisor the midget should have went back to his goddan car and called the supervisor. Once the fuck shot that guy the guy was within rights to curb stomp him until the threat was eliminated.

Ok, I love you man, but no. Once the cop says the magic words, “You’re under arrest”, they’re done, and you should be too. After that it’s a matter for your lawyer and the courts. If you resist past that point you’re automatically wrong, it will count against you, and could turn some minor shit into life altering shit.

Im gonna need your supervisor.

Now what I don't understand was why the taser was employed. Yes the guy wasn't listening, but he was on his ass, on the floor, against a corner and the cop had a taser (I think?) pointed at him, which could have just as easily have been a pistol. While shit wasn't going as planned, cop wasn't in any immediate danger and had the situation for what it was, under control. He could have just stood there with the guy at gunpoint until help arrived and have been done with it. Instead, he decided he needed to tase the guy because he wasn't listening; I think thats wrong and isn't going to fly. You can't shoot someone who isn't doing anything threatening because you said you're going to shoot them 20 times in a row, right?

Besides that, the initial thing that went through my head when he kept threatening the taser was 'I dont think the taser is going to do what you think its going to do'.

While the black guy was in the wrong and at worst case was getting a stupid speeding ticket, the cop was the one who actually escalated the situation to something that could have ended up with someone dead. This is why you take a 'win' from a situation where you have control and just have to wait for help as opposed to trying to get someone to 'respect your authoritiah!' and then shit really goes sideways.

BTW he had to wait all of 30 seconds for help to arrive from the time he decided he needed to taser someone in a corner, on their ass, asking for a supervisor.

They're both idiots.

Tazer was ineffective because he shot him too close and the probes impacted too close together. The way to remedy this when it happens is to drive stun the guy in the leg and it will make the circuit pass further through he body. Then it will work just fine.

I started laughing watching especially when "backup" arrived.

Heres a few of my thoughts and I'm sure some will take them as that I'm taking up for mini-me. I will agree I think he did a lot wrong as well. But here's my 2 cents.

You don't get to as for a supervisor just because of a routine traffic stop. If you have an issue of how I handle a stop, I'll be happy to have one show up AFTER I'm completely done. I am usually the only officer on duty for my agency so no supervisor is available. They can feel free to contact my Chief any time but not right at the start of my stop.

I agree on waiting on backup and playing a delay game until then given his size. BUT once he starts trying to walk around, the dynamic changed. You can't allow that kind of movement on a stop. You don't know if he's going for a weapon or trying to flee or ditch drugs or something. We control the scene, period.

Once little man grabbed him as big dude was walking away a refusing to follow commands, all bets are off. Kudos on him for not backing down.

Commands in regards to taser deployment, theres no set number but a couple of warnings are a good thing. Once he was on the ground in the door way, slowing down and wait for backup would be good. Continuing to give commands at that point is kind of pointless... much the same as big guy's continued asking for the supervisor.

One other consideration is that a taser being taken away (in Indiana) justifies deadly force. Now, some considerations are if the taser has an undeployed cartridge available, can the bad guy work it? So that doesn't necessarily mean shoot the guy but is a consideration. (The reason its deadly force is a taser can incapacitate the officer and he'd have no control over his weapon)

I don't give ultimatum commands or countdown options either. Typically, my go statement is something like "is there anything I can say to get you to comply?" Most agencies in my area know that's showtime.

These are the reasons why I think the officer acted appropriately. **** that doesn't mean he did everything right, but to me his mistakes were minor in the face of a suspect not complying from the start.

Calling for a supervisor on SH, because you think something is stupid, gets you the same dam thing McDowell got!

Though, Tucker vs Maser is going to go down or faster than that video!

Please don't put "Tucker vs Maser" and the act of going down in the same sentence. That's just plain awkward and even too gay for my tastes. Besides, my heart belongs to Lowlight!

That munchkin with a badge is damned lucky that McDowell is an NFL lineman and was drunk. The former doesn't require or foster any ability to fight and alcohol isn't a PED.
