The glass is probably better than the Leupold scopes I have, and the adjustments are wonderful too. They
are dirt cheap for what you get.

On a more serious note, Belomo made POSPs are kinda OK. The versions coming out of Novosibirsk are a bit more questionable, since they are not consistently running the assembly line so QC is not great. However, at Belomo they have been running them through production consistently for quite a few years and they are reasonably well made.

It is still an archaic design and all, but they have been trying to tweak it a little for a while, so it is serviceable.

Wow... that’s amazing. On my Weaver’s illuminated reticle, I have to pop out a tiny crank and wind up a small spring operated mechanism that runs a small motor which powers a minuscule generator that powers the reticle.... who would have ever thought of a battery operated reticle that is functional by a switch? Now, if they could just come up with a detented rheostat that could vary the level of intensity so you could adjust to coincide with the ambient lighting in your environment.
Never heard of those crank types before, they must be new.... The only other type I'm aware of apart from battery operated are the ones you have to activate with a flash light, a crank would certainly be an improvement over that.... It's marvelous what we can do these days
POSP... They must not have a native speaker on the marketing team. Anyone can tell you that stands for "Piece Of Shit Product"! Reminds me of a certain color brown China used to label furniture. Shit in translation is funny sometimes.

Russia gets a wrap for making junk (sometimes hardcore junk that works) but some of their newer shit is really on par with what's done here. They have our asses beat on tank tech for probably two decades and some of their new rifles are hot shit. Can't tell much from pictures, but I can tell it's not an ATN.

I think it's perfect for the rifle it's mounted on, a new Leupold would not look right.
Is anything done here nowadays ? That POSP scope is the only thing I've bought in a long time that was not made in China.
I do not think anything but the original PU scope and mount looks right on the SVT. I've bubba'ed enough guns in my day to lose all appreciation for it.
POSP on an SVT is just as odd as a modern scope would be.

I don't know about you, but where I'm concerned a gun with useless sights is not worth having. The trouble with the original scopes is that they are practically unobtainable. Reproductions are available but they are crap and I expect the originals were too. I bought two boxes of SVT 40's ( 30 rifles ) about 5 years ago as they were cheap, $199 each. There were three snipers in there which I bought reproduction scopes and mounts for, I sold them all because of the scope problem.. The only one I would not sell is the one with the POSP,

In Canada they are not worth anything like they are in the US. I thought they were a good deal at $199, I sold them three years later for an average of $375.
We can get things here that you can't get, and it works the other way too. It all evens out in the end.
