Ins company called, canceled his policy, sent him a refund. Said the policy would terminate in 30 days, unless he trimmed the trees below the eave line. He called an ask for help, we cut them back/down. He took photos in & they reinstated the policy after he paid, but at a higher rate. Nothing larger than 3" was above the eaves.

The Ins companies, bankers & property investors have all gotten together to start grabbing all they can, while making sure they will own it all at some point. People with leveraged mortgages will be the first to get a real fucking, and will quickly realize eye candy or the address is totally bullshit logic. These same people will relish a shack as they call them now, vs living on the street at some point. Welcome to merica,...

Friend in the panhandle received notice his homeowners was increasing about 150 percent. He was told if he made certain improvements to include changes to hurricane code it would reduce his premium. Spent thousands and saw a $60 reduction…annually.

Happened to me as well. Insurance on my shop (commercial) was cancelled due to non-conformance to inspection recommendations. Recommendations that I was never informed of at all. They wanted to triple (at least) my premium by way over estimating property value. I was winding down my business in order to retire anyway, so I just removed the sign and closed the shop to outside work. Most are not in a position to do this but I did.

I had to take out a chunk of my IRA to pay for a new roof and siding. Otherwise, the insurance company was not going to renew my policy, which already had a rate hike. Bunch of cry-babies from California move here, buy a house, get a smattering of marble-sized hail and immediately call in a claim. So, the companies have raised rates to pay for these damn yankees. For what it has cost me, I did myself no favors not calling in a claim when a storm in June of 2023 pulled my patio cover off of the C clips.

Hmmm… Insurance on the SoCal house went down this year. Some fuckery for sure.

This is ALL about the plan to totally destroy the middle class, remember that slogan "you will own nothing and you will be happy"... That wasn't just a joke, that is their plan.

The world IS heading back to the Feudal Era where the rich landed lords will own everything with Government protection and everybody else will be ownerless serfs slaving away to make money for the masters.

Ownership of almost anything is about to become a thing of the past for those who are not very careful.
Owning your own stuff is what gives you freedom.

Oh and all the idiots that demanded property taxes "for the children" well I hope they get "special treatment" from some horned folks in the next life.

When you don't own your own home but the bank owns it, then the insurance companies can bleed you dry even worse than property taxes.

If you own your home outright and have good money in the bank, you have the option to tell your greedy insurance company to F off for good.
This is correct, and the reason now in many places they have changed how they rate. An owned home (aka no mortgage) owner has jingle in the bank, good credit, their rates are about 50% less compared to mortgaged, living paycheck to paycheck. Same with Vehicle Ins, owned, no accidents, tickets, good credit, ECT.

Why do you think it was a drone the satellites fly over everyday and take pictures. Our city auditor updates their pictures on the website all the time. I am on there regular as I am always looking to buy rehabs. My yard changes monthly with projects and the auditor always has the latest one.
You have to learn to play their game, I filled out paperwork that as I do improvements they can not raise my taxes and penalize me. It is good for ten years and then I will fill out another one. I am about 7 years in at this point no increases.
