The Stag 15 Varminter I've grown familiar with (in the form of its predecessor, the Stag Model 6) is finally back in the product lineup after their move.

With 1 24" 1:8" Stainless Bull Barrel, it's essentially the same rifle I've been shooting for well over a decade.

New to the design is a 16.5" Stag M-Lok Forend/Handguard, which allows it to use M-Lok accessories for the first time.

Mine has been a tackdriver since I acquired my first one back in the early 2000's, having been joined by its twin which I bought and assembled as a kit in 2017. Mine was shot in F T/R MR 600 competition with the simple addition of a Bipod and a Single Feed magazine follower. These days, both of mine have had the EGW Bag Rider added to the original A2 stock. The Stag Two-Stage (2lb/3.5lb) triggers on mine are very nice.

Very shortly thereafter, the basic design was redesignated as the Stag 15 Varminter, receiving an upgrade to use the Magpul MOE Fixed stock.

Now priced at $1099.99, it is chambered in 5.56 NATO, and is also available in a left-hand orientation.

I welcome its return.

Back in 2017, I built my second Stag 6 from the Stag 6 rifle kit; which consisted all parts but the stripped Lower. The price was extremely reasonable, especially since I purchased it during a Labor Day sales event. The Upper came completely assembled, including the BCG. I bought the Stag stripped Lower as part of the same purchase, and soon had my rifle up and running.

Stag is in the process of revving its operations back up from its move from CT to WY. The political climate there is not arrogantly predatory. Their production/marketing lineup is returning to resemble it's appearance before the double whammy of the move and the virus.

That lineup is newly inclusive of kits (in the parts section), although the 15 Varminter has yet to appear.

I believe it's likely that the 15 Varminter will eventually appear as well, and firmly believe that marketing follows expressed interest. IMHO, some inquiries and requests about such an addition to the line could hasten its appearance.

Worth a try...

PS, it doesn't just look good. During those years gone by, the Stag 6 was offered with a sub-MOA accuracy guarantee at 100yd with commercial match ammo,. Both of my guns were able to meet that guarantee using PPU 75gr Match. I mounted this Mueller 8-32x44 on both of mine. The rifles are tack drivers; I keep them as an identical pair for informal matches. My load is HDY 75gr HPBT Match, Starline brass, CCI BR-4, and 23.5gr Varget.

Stag is an interesting company that got its start by becoming the industry standard for AR Component parts.

That I can't say, because my Model 6's are two models prior to the ones on sale these days. Mine has the Hogue rubber wrapped solid tube, and only has a single Sling Stud for attachments. Solid as a rock.

I have several AR Stoner/PSA Lightweight M-Lok handguards, and they do not flex or shift on me. That's all I can say with certainty.

These days I've converted all of my AR's to be bag riders., and use UTG-Style Side-mounted M-Lok bipods. When folded, they do not interfere with a rest or bag.

Wow, that price is insane. When I bought mine in May, it was listed at about $44, and I thought that was high.

My best friend has that older Stag- left hand flavor, and it’s one of the rifles our group gages accuracy by and I agree it has a very good trigger his chief complaint and a small one is no where really to mount a light for coyotes and actually we remedied that some time ago with diffrent scope mounts with rail section on top. Great rifle, doesn’t break the bank getting started with about as accurate of an AR out of the box that one can by.
