obviously the quick disconnect is a neat option for speed and ease of use, and also deters loosening up....

but how does a quick disconnect can compare to the threaded can on precision rifles? less consistency? Substantially more POI shift? thanks

Re: threaded vs QD pros and cons

The cans that use a flash hider type mount work well for me. I have a KAC NT4 and a AAC M4 1000 I do not notice any shift with ether of these cans. To me the groups seam to improve slightly. The mounts for these cans will fit almost any rifle.

Re: threaded vs QD pros and cons

The disadvantage to a QD system is that you may get some gas leak between the suppressor and the mount. All QD systems do this and some more than others. You may get some carbon blowing onto your front objective.

That being said, I like my 7.62 SD.

every can I own affixes to a proprietary adapter that's threaded on...and all of them twist on their intended mounting platform, some with a locking tab or not </div></div>

I think what the op is asking is.. is there an accuracy difference or poi difference between the two types of mounts, ie AAC Cyclone (threaded 5/8 24) vs. AAC 7.62 SD (can threads onto a QD device). The QD devise in my example can be a flash suppressor or a muzzle break.

I have a 7.62 SD and find no change in windage, minor change in elevation and 100% repeatability.

Re: threaded vs QD pros and cons

Call Bryon at major malfunction or check out his site. I bought mine while they were still including the QD mount with the can. Now its a seperate purchase.

Re: threaded vs QD pros and cons

We don't have basements in TEXAS.

This is what I recommend
pic0015mf0.jpg

With a thread on can it can go from weapon to weapon very easly, not as fast as a QD, but every weapon with a QD mount is threaded, Shark has threaded adapters for any thread you might need, that can has been on 3 bolt guns, a AR10, AR15's, 10/22's and a 22 pistol, it light, its quiet, its cleanable, there are no stamped parts, nothing is spot welded, everyhting is CNC machined and held to very tight standards hence zero POI shift, and each one is made by one man, David Whitson aka 737Shark.
