I just picked one of these up to start experimenting with some other stuff I have going on. Does yall's vibrate like it has runout in the barrel or roll pins? The motor got pretty hot, pretty quick as well. It looks like some of the vibration will be eliminated if I screw it into the bench. I just want to make sure this is indicative of other tumblers as well before I start punching holes in the base. if they all do it then that is fine. I just thought it would be smoother.

Mine vibrates a lot. Gets warm too.
I saw where you can get some stuff to put on the tumbler that helps keep it from slipping when it is loaded down. I am using the SS media and soap and water now and the drum slips a bit. The stuff is like wing walk compound or like what you put in a bath tub to keep from slipping.
I thought about nailing mine to the bench but I like to get it out of the way when I ain't using it.

I have an old friend that has one of the Thumblers. I went to his house one day and he had it running on the front porch. I parked my truck about 30' away and could hear it as soon as I opened the door.

The rattling and noise may be part of the whole package.

I heeerrd that it only makes noises like that, when you haven't drunked enough bourbon. And that it only heats up like that, when it is turned on. Leave the switch off, and it'll stay cool for your lifetime.

The motor is designed to run hot. Make sure you get some oil on it when you first start using it. It doesn't need much but it does need some. There was a paper with mine stating how often it should be oiled so if you bought it new you should have got one as well.

I still have mine. But I don't use it any more. I put 1" thick 3" X 3" squares of closed cell foam under each corner. Oil the motor and shaft bushings every so often and it should be fine. Mine ran almost constantly for 12 years before I went to a big vibratory unit. I did always run it through a surge protector.
