A few months ago, I emailed CDI to ask some dumb question or other about "adapting" a T3 or 700 DBM to a Tikka 595... well, Jeff at CDI, instead of ignoring my dumb question (whatever it was), replied "Hmm.. you know, I've been meaning to take a look at doing one for the 595... send me your rifle, and you'll get the prototype" (paraphrasing).

So, a couple months (and moving from a house with space for tools to an apartment with a downsize in income) later, here it is!
My left handed, .223 Tikka 595 Sporter with AI .223 Magazine, and CDI Bottom Metal. Fresh from Sunny Florida!
It required some milling on the bottom of the reciever to open it up (width and depth I think) for the AI magazine.

It looks and feeds terrific! I've run 10 "dummy" cartridges through it repeatedly. Haven't had time to get it to the range yet!

This is "Phase One" of my grand plan for this rifle... (phase two is a new heavier 8" twist barrel in .223, phase 3 is a manners stock... phase 2.5 is probably getting better glass... but that might be 3.5... or 1.5 if I get a better job...)

So Tikka 595 owners; we finally have a DBM option that doesn't involve duct tape and welding! :D

Give CDI Precision a call, to thank them for making a DBM option for a DISCONTINUED rifle, if nothing else!

Oh, and I almost forgot! I also got a new "single load sled" from CDI, and that works fantastic as well! I was always frustrated with the factory Tikka magazine in .223, as SOMEHOW, I kept getting a round dropped base first down the open "filler" slot in the magazine trying to single load off the top of it! Never did figure out how I managed to chubby finger that... but the single load sled fixes that problem!

Many, MANY thanks to Jeff at CDI Precision!

Got a chance to shoot this rifle in a local "fun match" today...
My zero sucked for the "main event" so I won't mention that.
I did win the bag of beef jerky with one shot at the hanging golf ball at 300 yards though!

I can't say it was "all because of the CDI bottom metal", but that sure did make it a pleasure to shoot!

If you have a Tikka 595 and need a DBM, give CDI a call.
