I have access to 2 tikka t3 magnum actions, they have 338win barrels on them now. My question is could i do a 300NM? Or are pressure to high? If i cant then ill have to go 300wm. 30 nosler doesnt tickle me much and brass is spendy. My plan is to throw a proof carbon barrel on and carbon stock on this t3 action. Any advice or suggestions on this?
thanks

The 300 Norma case has a larger rim diameter than the belted magnum case family. Might want to look into doing something based on the 375 Ruger case.

Edit: I should add that I am in the process of putting together a Proof CF-barreled 338WM right now; if you look at the BC of the 250 gr Berger Elite Hunter and the MV that should be possible using H4831 (https://load-data.nosler.com/load-data/338-winchester-magnum/), you can see how it'd be pretty respectable long-range hammer. Certainly not on the same level as the 338 LM or 338 NM, but not too shabby, either.

No you cannot run a 300 NM on a Tikka T3 action. Tikka T3's are very short as far as long actions go. The max COAL they will support is 3.580" . Anything longer gets caught under the feed ramp if your using AI type mags.. The 300 NM COAL is 3.681" So your 0.010" short. The 300 WM will work, as will the excellent no fireforming wildcat 30-338 Win Mag.
