Re: TRG Rifles picture thread.....??

Ok, here is an updated photo, since the last one, I picked up a TRG bipod (old style), I moved the sling stud to the the right side so I can get better tension on my hand when using the sling. I made a 1/4" spacer under cheek piece out of oak, and filled the cheek piece cavity with electricial puddy, I felt like the sound was rattling through it and into my cheekbone and killing my ear, it really helps. I took some time the other day and shot it without the brake on and it shot exactly 1" higher at 100yards with it off. It didn't kick too much without it, but it doesn't kick at all with it on, and accuracy is just as good either way.I also got my Nightforce installed and zeroed. I spent 5 hours at the range today shooting this as well as getting my 10/22's and .17 dialed in for Varmint season, it was an enjoyable Sunday.

Where did you get the covers for the bipod feet? How do you like them?

I'm actually surprised Jewell makes a replacement trigger for the TRG. Based on my experience, the Jewell would seem like a downgrade.

Mine is one TRG that would never have a piece of crap Jewell in it.

So let's take a field serviceable and adjustable trigger made to run in any condition and throw a temperamental non-adjustable trigger that has to be sterile to run worth a crap. Sure that makes sense...NOT!

Re: TRG Rifles picture thread.....??

The Jewell is a downgrade for sure. Take arguably the finest stock trigger out there and slap in one that is a known problem child if not kept in a clean room is just silly. I'll never go back to a single stage if I can help it.

TRG factory trigger is the nuts, period.

Darn, ya beat me to it, I was thinking the same thing after I read that he took out such a nice trigger for a Jewell. The trigger alone is why I am not running Rem 700 stuff any more. I tried the Huber two stage and it wasn't even close to the Sako trigger, I do have one Jewell left, and the only reason I keep it is for trading stock when I decide to do my next project.
As to the reply as to where I got my bipod feet, they came with the rifle,(I bought it here used) there was a guy making these aftermarket parts last year, I don't know if he is still around.

Re: TRG Rifles picture thread.....??

Here is a older TRG-42 (338LM) in the 1-12" twist. All original components except for the Monopod. This one shoots tight. I have found it likes the 250 Scenars best. All Load testing is at 200 yards. Pretty consistant 3 shot groups during testing with one group measuring .3395 outside to outside. WOW, must have been my lucky day.

Re: TRG Rifles picture thread.....??

need a favour guys!
could one of the owners of a 42 measure the maximum cartridge length the mag will take please?
very much appreciated
cheers

Re: TRG Rifles picture thread.....??

Inside dimension of mag (300WM) is 3.750". I load to 3.620 COAL with 208 A-max with no problems.

Re: TRG Rifles picture thread.....??

Cheers
Is that the same mag as for the .338

Beautiful!!!

The lineage is obvious!

Most American shooters have only recently discovered what awesome rifles Tikkas are.

Did you put the Sphur on top of the Picatinny, on top of the Sako rail for extra height?
wink.gif

Re: TRG Rifles picture thread.....??

Spuhr does make a picatinny mount if you want to use a base or have a picatinny rail mounted on your rifle. But they also do make a direct base for both the AI, TRG and Sig rifles.

I opted for the TRG mount myself. No need to compound the problem with a base underneath.
